My granny sent me some poems that she found in her huge wooden filing+storage cabinet (an immovable piece of furniture known in the family and parts of greater Leicester as “The Chosser”) that I wrote when I was 9. I don’t remember writing them (though I imagine “Scarab Beetle” was inspired by -or even written for- a school project on ancient Egypt) but I remember being obsessed with formatting word documents on her desktop computer and printing them out, hence the lavish borders. It made me feel really professional and like a Serious Poet. Inspired to find that sauce this summer..I miss being a kid
