सूरज का सातवां घोड़ा Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda The Seventh Horse of the Sun (1992)
Day 18 of the Clinton Presidency
Everyone is too excited about the upcoming Education Secretary vote to sleep. Denise Juneau has citizens so excited, both for her incredible credentials and the prospect of the first openly gay and first American Indian cabinet member, that Senators of both parties have had their phone lines jammed with supportive phone calls. The Capitol Switchboard has been overloaded with calls in the past weeks due to the extraordinary slate of nominees the administration has lined up.
At the White House, President HRC is hosting an all-night all-issue teach-in and chardonnay party to celebrate. Even some Republicans showed up, and now Al Franken and Ted Cruz are bonding as they supervise the marshmallow roasting, having discovered a mutual affection for blackened marshmallows. A human s’more chain has formed across the Rose Garden, since the Secret Service is very picky about where open flames are permitted on the grounds. Cory Booker is taking his turn at the all-night teach-in and everyone is learning how to play “Born to Run” on the recorder, helpfully provided by the newly-established Bipartisan Commission on Music in Schools. Tim Kaine and Bill Clinton are joining in on harmonica and sax, respectively.

On this day in music history: August 22, 1975 - “Man-Child”, the seventeenth album by Herbie Hancock is released. Produced by David Rubinson and Herbie Hancock, it is recorded at Village Recorders, Crystal Industries in Los Angeles, CA, Wally Heider Studios and Funky Features in San Francisco, CA from Late 1974 - Early 1975. Continuing to explore the Jazz/Funk fusion of his successful “Head Hunters” and “Thrust” albums, Hancock and the Headhunters Band (their final album with Hancock) are joined on “Man-Child” by Stevie Wonder, guitarists Dewayne “Blackbyrd” McKnight, “Wah Wah” Watson, David T. Walker, saxophonists Wayne Shorter and Ernie Watts, drummer James Gadson and bassist Louis Johnson. The albums breakout track “Hang Up Your Hang Ups” goes on to be sampled by a number of artists over the years including NWA, Lords Of The Underground, and Janet Jackson. The album is remastered and reissued in 2013 as part of the box set “The Complete Columbia Albums Collection 1972 - 1988”. “Man-Child” hits number one on the Billboard Jazz album chart, and number twenty one on the Billboard Top 200.

SAXON SOUND @ Notting hill carnival, London
- 1994
This legendary group contributed to the popularisation of reggae sound systems in the UK imported by Jamaican migrants in the 50s. It was an underground sound which took focus on creating a cultural and joyous environment for Caribbean people who were often excluded from clubs and bars in that time. Sound systems were set up on street corners, halls and community centres.
Saxon Sound emerged in the 70s with their MCs, DJs and dubplates and hosted at small parties before going on to do bigger things at local venues and weddings in lewisham. Soon after, they gained international recognition and even won the world sound cup title in 1994 (first UK group to ever do it) and were recognised as the no.1 sound system in the UK.
