Delicious,Fast, Easy & Affordable recipes. Healthy never tasted so good. The Kitchen Approach gives food back it’s power!
Yesterday, I tweeted about my friend Wendi, who is an incredible chef/personal trainer/motivator… but above all… just an amazing friend. She has basically dedicated most of her life to spreading the message that through the power of food we can reverse actual diseases and heal people from negative body image and eating disorders.
Her own story is completely insane and almost hard to believe. I will let her tell you that herself (it’s on her website - the link above)… but what I do know is that my story and testimony as it pertains to the knowledge she has shared with me, is that my overall outlook on food and the way that it effects the quality of my life has been changed drastically for the better.
I struggled with loss of energy for a long time last year on tour as well as difficulties with my skin (oh my hell, do we/girls ever stop breaking out?)… and changing a few things in my diet and basically just understanding what I’m taking in food-wise (and supplement-wise, too!) has really helped me to live better on the road and love food even more than I already did. Only maybe in a healthier way? Look, I still love peanut butter M&M’s but that’s beside the point.
Her cookbook is filled with a lot of the same kind of advice/knowledge/tips/tricks/&recipes that she has shared with me in our many hangouts… and I just really feel like anyone could enhance their lifestyle by actually thinking about and understanding the food we are putting in our system. Some people get into this for the potential weight loss benefits, some people just want to feel better, some people have serious health issues… and the craziest part is that food is at the basis of all these things. We can either use it’s power for positive change, or continue to let it be a neutral or, even worse, negative part of our lives.
I think if we can change the way people are looking at food then we can change the way we as a society live. Food is an amazing/social/beautiful part of our world. But it’s become such a cause of pain for people… and some people don’t even realize it’s at the root of the problem. Did you know that the majority of our health stems from our gut? The way we digest food and nutrients we are able to absorb… it’s all so important and I’ve slowly but surely become incredibly passionate about this cause. Because of my friend Wendi.
If you can help the cause by picking up a cookbook, you won’t even know how much you are helping Wendi. She worked incredibly hard to put this together and I believe in her mission and think that there is so much more to come from her that will really help people: especially young girls suffering with eating disorders and people suffering from auto-immune disease!!!
This is just the beginning of her journey. Again, read her story when you’ve got the time and help if you can. YAY food!!!
***ps this is not a vegan cookbook but Wendi is vegetarian and a lot of the recipes are veggie. However, if my memory serves me right, there are some recipes that do have meat in em… either way, now I’m starving so I’ll talk to you guys later
