Best bit of throwaway Marvel mythology is hands down that the souls of the American dead are ferried to the afterlife by cross-country truck drivers.
like. the ones who are already hauling all the physical stuff up and down the interstates or a special spectral fleet
The trips are explicitly spectral but I think it’s left unclear whether the drivers themselves are normal hires only temporarily working in liminal space.
love the concept that long-haul truckers just constantly have the option to pick up some contract work as psychopomps
