So, I definitely don’t have a future in anything cooking related. Like, need me to do your nails? Definitely. Need a new hairstyle? Absolutely. But you want me to cook something for dinner? It’s not gonna happen. Also, can you fail a cooking class if you’re just really bad at it but you still try? ‘Cause that’s gonna be a thing when these summer classes start if that’s a thing. I’m stressed out.

Taking a dance class as one of my summer courses was the best idea ever. Watching these ladies dance around in yoga pants and short shorts makes me a VERY happy man.

No, you don’t get to talk to me like that, Mason.  Apply again next year for a college internship after I’ve graduated?  Tell me how that one is supposed to work out.  I have to get a full time job when I finish at Hawthorne.  One with health benefits and a salary I can actually survive on.  I need the internship to get the skills to get that job.  I am the first of my family to go to college.  My parents are pouring everything into my education here.  And I know I’m sure as fuck not the only kid at Hawthorne in a similar situation.
So yeah, you’re being pretty damn dismissive about people losing out on opportunities.  Have just a little fucking sympathy.
And what the hell does that mean?  Are you saying I didn’t work my goddamned ass off to get here either?  NO ONE has worked harder to get here than I have.  I’m serious.  So no, this isn’t about being high and mighty, Mason–it’s about recognizing when people are being unfairly treated, and actually doing something about it.
We should be fighting for the people who are getting fucked over for nothing.  If you or Peyton had something lined up taken from you and I didn’t, I would still fight them for your chance to go do it. Â
Then maybe you should have applied earlier. Maybe you should be busy trying to work something out with the place you got the internship from, explain your situation and explain why you need the internship. Maybe be proactive on fixing your situation. And fun fact--You won’t be guaranteed a job straight out of Hawthorne, whether you had the internship or not.
I’m saying you’re acting like somebody who can afford to complain and threaten to bring lawyers to your school. If I’m not in Hawthorne, I have absolutely nothing. My partner is gone, I have no real home, I have no family aside from my brother, and all of my money has been put into this school.Â
It’s an internship. Get your skills another way. Everybody has lost something this summer. People have lost internships. People have lost chances to see family. I’ve lost the chance to be at the one place I’m at peace. But we’re adults and we understand we can’t always have everything.

That’s exactly what I’m saying–they’re unpaid. Now is the time for the upcoming senior class to do them while we’ve got basic needs covered.  That’s what makes this is an especially extra-bullshitty situation.Â
If people got offered once in a lifetime internships or job/research opportunities this summer?  They are damn well entitled to go off and pursue it.  They fucking earned it.  School is supposed to prepare us for our futures, we don’t pay them a fuckton of tuition money for them to fuck it up for us.  We’re gonna graduate into a tough job market at a disadvantage.
Why anyone would show belly by complying with this is lost on me.  It just lets them know they can get away with it.  We should be calling up lawyers in order to fight back.
Anyway, I would bet money on your tune being a fuck of a lot different if you had an internship lined up with something like the MoMA or the Whitney this summer and Hawthorne looked you dead in the eye and said, nope, pick up that mop and bucket.
Regal, enough. An internship isn’t the rest of your life. Apply again next year and if you’re good enough then you’ll get it back. We’re not going belly up, we’re doing as we’re told because we’re all smart enough to know that if we don’t, the consequences won’t be that fun. Don’t take your attitude out on somebody I’m close with. Peyton’s right. This wasn’t a paid internship, so maybe now you’ll have time to get an actual job and save money for the real world instead of spending your summer complaining.
Some of us worked our butts off to get into Hawthorne. If you think that you’re high and mighty enough to complain and decide not to comply, then fine. Don’t comply. Leave, maybe. Because the senior class messed up and we’re paying for it because as they aren’t students, they can’t.Â
Calling lawyers would be stupid and useless and they’d advise you to either sit down and shut it, or leave. So you choose.Â
Can we talk about the fact that NASA discovered 1,000 new planets today? And seven of them are capable of life? Like, I would literally give my left arm to be on the Kepler telescope. Not only would I go wheeee as I rode through the universe, but like, I’d get to meet all of the aliens. I love science.

Well I’m in a state of upset about this entire situation for the summer. I’ve eaten eight tubes of mini M&Ms. Then I threw up. I’m already considering going for another one. Or baking cookies. Maybe both.

I’ve never really tried any of what he has made before, but he offered to make me something called Death by Chocolate Cake.
He was my partner, in a romantic way. It ended though. He was my best friend for a while, but when I say partner I don’t mean it in that way. And Jonny probably won’t visit, considering he’s in Alsea and I don’t think he needs to be here anyways. I was just going to go spend my summer with him and go to our usual places.
Well he’s an amazing baker, so I’d trust him on getting that.

I went on a roadtrip with my partner at the time, and on the way up to Oregon from LA we decided to move into his parents old house in Alsea Falls. I didn’t really have a reason to stay in Chicago. So I moved in with Jonny and we lived together till I went to Hawthorne.

I am not flexible enough to do yoga. I try to relax, just calm down after a long, hectic day with movies or tv shows or a good book, but sometimes it just does not work. Your brother is Malachi, yes?

My parents haven’t spoken to me since I told them I was moving to Oregon. Before that they didn’t speak to me either, actually.
