I’ve recently decided that I’m tired of having Jia Chong, who is my most active muse, on a sideblog, so I’ll be slowly moving everything I have here over to a new primary blog. Jia Chong was a man of many things. He was a leader, a lethal enemy, and a proud strategist of the Sima family. He was not, however, a man of sentiment or empathy, for after the death of his father, Jia Kui, Jia Chong had lost interest in many things and chose solitude over intimacy.

Perhaps that is why, much to his dismay, he found his fingers curled into tight fists as he made his way to the ambush site, where he stood amongst an entanglement of sorrows; his steely gaze was unfathomed by the smoky film of dying fires, but his nostrils flared at the stench of bloodied flesh. And while his expression was detached and utterly apathetic, there was flicker of anger in the way his lips pursed in a solemn line. A waste of time.

Jia Chong bent down and snapped the bloodied, wooden nametag off of the soldier’s waistband, hooking the rope around his own wrist as he reached for the next. A waste of resources.

But when a shadow caught his eye, he paused as his fingers brushed against the second tag. He looked to the north and straightened, slowly now, as his lips curved in a malicious smirk. “There’s no use in hiding, unless you plan to run.”
