Even Jesus made regular church attendance a priority. "And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read." (Luke 4:16 ESV) http://bible.com/59/luk.4.16.esv
Doing prep for our next big sermon and Community Group series at Destiny. On February 15 we kick off The Gospel According To John. I can't wait to see what God does in his people as the word is proclaimed!
"And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil ..."
The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness. Think about that for a second. The wilderness was a lonely and barren place with harsh conditions. The wilderness is not the fruitful place of peace, prosperity and fulness we typically we typically think of when we ask to be led by the Spirit. Nevertheless, Jesus had to go through the wilderness experience and temptation so that the plan and purpose of God could be fulfilled in and through him.
If you're in a wilderness season today, you can take great comfort in this passage. You can know that being in the wilderness does not mean God has forsaken you. Rather, be encouraged that as we're led by God's Spirit, a season of barrenness and conflict is oftentimes God's way of bringing about a great victory, for his own glory.

One of my favorite moments from 2014. Capping off our fall sermon series, celebrating our love for The Bible and each other. Lots more of this to come in 2015. 🎉
Starting 2015 reading the new Bible Heather gave me for Christmas. A new year is an opportunity to start fresh, set things in order and focus on what really matters. This year, make your daily time with Jesus a non-negotiable. Find a plan for spiritual growth that works for you and stick to it. I promise you won't regret it. It's really not about you anyway. It's all about Jesus. Let's live that truth in 2015.
Walk in the power of His might today!
Really looking forward to being back with my Destiny Church family tomorrow morning. I had a great time in Wisconsin, but there's no place like home. Tomorrow is Part 8 of Grace Alone: Man's Weakness. God's Power. See you there!

People, life is simple. Follow Jesus.
Continue seeking Him with seriousness. Unless he wanted you, you would not be wanting him.
