The difference in interaction between L and Light, and Light and Near can be explained by the fact that L is a fascinated, curious lover who wants to add Light to his collection of criminals, and Near is stuck dealing with their evil stepfather who killed the cool dad who paid for everything. In essence, it's the difference between lovers, and child and evil stepfather.

me each time I see someone have the wrong opinion about AIB: please remember that Arisu is a ♥️ player, not a ♦️ one. Arisu being a ♥️ specialist is VITAL to all his development and to the final confrontation between himself, Niragi and Chishiya because that's a ♥️ player facing two ♦️players The final game within players is meant to be mind and reason vs heart and emotion and one character with a lot of empathy and skills of understanding others facing other two WHO LACK ALL OF THAT
it's not a game between 3 ♦️ players That wouldn't make any sense it's a ♥️ player DOING HIS THING AND "TRICKING" THE DIAMIN PLAYERS INTO CHANGING
You got Chishiya, whose apathy and indiference towards the world made it so imposible for him to undertand others And Niragi, who is so trapped inside his own view of the world and himself who can't also undertand anyone else
And then you have Arisu, who gets BOTH OF THEM, he can understand both CHISHIYA AND NIRAGI BECAUSE HE IS A ♥️PLAYER. WHAT WOULD BE IMPOSIBLE IF HE WAS ALSO A ♦️ ONE
Arisu is not a parallel to Chishiya or Niragi Chishiya and Niragi are the parallels Arisu is the one standing at the edge, trying to choose what route to take just to realize that this is not even his road before turning around and walking his own one
Chishiya and Niragi are narrative foils Arisu is the one who disturbs that weird balance, makes them change and offers them a new way to face the world A new way that Niragi refuses to take but Chishiya does follow
Because both Chishiya and Niragi are completely alone, they both don't want to be anymore, but only Chishiya does something to achieve that in the end You get Niragi saying out loud that he doesn't want to be alone, but doing nothing about it and Chishiya taking Arisu's hand into starting his personal change, even if he never says it outloud THAT ONLY MAKES SENSE WITH ARISU BEING A DIFERENT KIND OF PLAYER

although I find both institutions detestable I think they should force the vatican to compete in the Olympics. let's see what those priests can do

One part of the jdrama i honestly wish was in the original series is a trick Light pulls off in confinement that tbh suits his anime/manga personality wayyy better than it does the tv drama at that point.
Basically, before giving up his memories, Light’s in his solitary confinement, hands and legs bound, the usual. But every time he eats a member of the task force is allowed in to untie him so he can actually, yk, eat. And the jdrama honestly does a good job in showing how physically damaging the restaints would be to Light, but he also hams it up BIG TIME to make himself look as pathetic and miserable as posible. Because, when the killings start again with his memories still intact, he uses this sympathy to confirm his plan. Obviously L still pulls the ‘whaaaaat noo no criminals have died at allll ur crazy and kira’ but Light’s so disheveled at this point that even Aizawa is starting to crack. So when he goes to untie light for his meal, Light starts crying (i think?) and basically saying hes so sorry and he must be kira and hes going to get executed ohhhh poor me. And Aizawa tells him ‘don’t worry’. One fell swoop, confirming that Rem has found another person, they are being treated as the same Kira, and that everything’s gone according to plan. He can then give up his memories at the gayest time possible and BOOM. Perfect.
i wouldvr loved to see all that in the original because that emotional manipulation (and it was STRONG you really need to see it) is so typically him. One of the best additions to the jdrama imo :)))
I've said Yagami Light from the 2015 drama would be an evil stepfather. I stand by that. However, I think having Near as a stepchild after you killed their father would be worse.
You killed their father and are trying to go on dates with your evil polycule? WRONG!!!! Saw trap time!!!
You're having a nice day? They kidnapped your sister. And also, Mello has taken over.
You're grieving L? They are too, and they want you dead.
The difference in interaction between L and Light, and Light and Near can be explained by the fact that L is a fascinated, curious lover who wants to add Light to his collection of criminals, and Near is stuck dealing with their evil stepfather who killed the cool dad who paid for everything. the wisdom ive learnt is that becoming part of a friend group 1) takes a long time and 2) involves a lot of feeling awkward and left out at first. there’s nothing terrible about this but if you grew up chronically lonely or have any kind of trauma relating to social isolation this likely feels Really Wrong and activates danger signals. but both fortunately and unfortunately it’s just how becoming close to new people works most of the time
another thing that was not intuitive to me as someone who grew up an autistic loner: basically everyone on the planet is starved for connection all the time and almost everything people do is an attempt to reach out to another. most seemingly illogical interactions and behaviours can be explained by this. you have to take as many of these invitations as you can. even if you're wrong you still attempted to bring more warmth into the world
