We genuinely need to romanticize aging because the dread destroys us all
Do you like slow burn romance, opposites attract, and older lesbians? This book might be for you!
Unaccounted For is a slow-burn sapphic romance about public image, private damage, and two women who have spent decades learning how not to need anyone.
Disaster response veteran Allegra Sinclair saves people. She doesn’t court attention.
But when a chance rescue saves the life of a billionaire heir, Allegra’s face is suddenly everywhere. News crews want interviews. Strangers want selfies. And Sal Lategan, a ruthless PR strategist with a talent for getting under Allegra’s skin, knows exactly what Allegra’s unwanted fame is worth.
The deal is simple: Allegra lets Sal prove her sudden fame can become more than headlines—that it can become shelter, funding, and support for people who need it.
Then the deal changes.
Sal’s world is built on image, leverage, and secrets, and Allegra is very good at finding people others thought were lost. The closer she gets to Sal, the more obvious it becomes that the woman managing everyone else’s narrative has been trapped inside one of her own.
Allegra never wanted to be famous. She never wanted to be anyone’s asset. But leaving Sal behind may be harder than turning back towards the flames.

Stole this from somewhere but i think it’s appropriate
message to prospective writers
i need to warn you about something terrible: after you've finished your story and are emotionally done with it and satisfied you will need to read it another four or five hundred times. possibly more. and when you think you will not have to read it any more, you will find a typo. and fixing it will create a grammar dilemma. and then you will wake up in the middle of the night like WAIT WAS THAT THE RIGHT WORD, SHIT I NEED TO CHECK and also you will need to google "what is a drive train" even though you know what a drive train is, in case it turns out you don't know what it is
and then you should probably read it one more time
A happy hobbit.
Little does he know, things are about to happen that will make him significantly less happy.
My attempt at drawing Ned Kelly.
I know it’s not perfect but I tried my best and it’s not totally awful
Not only is having intergenerational friendships literally not creepy, imho it's actually essential. You NEED friends who are older to do things like help you when there's a problem with your taxes, and give you job advice, and relationship advice, and especially if you are part of a marginalized group, and especially if you're part of a marginalized group and don't have contact with a ton of other members of it, you need older friends to show you that there IS a future for you, for people like you, and what it looks like, and the way it doesn't even have to involve turning into your parents
There's this whole story unfolding on TikTok right now about this account that got popular — a woman in the US who calls up churches & pretends to have a starving newborn that hasn't eaten since last evening & asks them if they could help her out with a can of formula. Unsurprisingly, none of the ridiculous megachurches actually ever say yes, and the churches & other religious institutions that did say yes are getting lots of support from people.
But I just saw a video of a TT user explaining that they decided to do their own little social experiment — by walking up to drug dealers on the street, telling them there's a young woman with a baby who needs help with formula, and literally all of them immediately reached into their pockets. In this story, the OP did have a real neighbor with a baby who ended up getting some much needed baby supplies. Thanks to the charity of local drug dealers.
A lot of Americans are learning that their rich white Christian churches are less willing to help their communities than black churches, mosques, buddhist temples, the satanic temple & apparently also crack dealers.
A couple of days ago, I tried drawing a Final Space poster to celebrate the imminent release of the graphic novel. Might ink and colour it in later.
A much needed reminder about Gal Gadot
There seems to be some sort of renaissance movement for GG with CBM fans coming out of their holes to defend her, so I'd just like to remind y'all that for past 2 years while we've all been helplessly witnessing one of the worst massacres of our time, this woman used her position to:
Remember, historical accuracy will almost always be secondary to filming practicality!
like i'm sorry but we as a fandom have to stay firm on our anti-AI values. we cannot suddenly start giving AI a pass when it's something we "want to see" like destiel kisses. it's not suddenly fine. we're not going to start using AI to make fanfic scenes come to life or audio AI to make characters "say" stuff we want to hear. you have GOT to be firm on your anti-AI stance. if you start making exceptions then suddenly anything will fly. fandom is for real art and creations made by real people. no AI fanfics. no AI art. no AI rendered "bonus" scenes. no AI audio. none of it has a place here.
this includes c.ai btw. I literally do not care if it “helps you write”. You can ask someone with experience in writing for help. You don’t. Need. The robot. A human’s advice will ALWAYS be better than the advice of a robot.

I remember a terf mother saying glibly to me, "You'll understand why you have kids," about why she refused to support her trans son.
Okay, so I have kids now. I still don't 'understand'.
What I understand is that I have brought two incredible people into this world who every day surprise and delight me simply by being themselves. As soon as they were placed into my arms the only thing that mattered to me about them was their safety and happiness. And I'm not saying this lightly: whatever gives them genuine joy in their own existence is what I will turn the world over to support for them.
What these parents don't seem to understand is that our children build themselves. In utero, fetuses build themselves using materials from the host. Outside of it, children build themselves with the food, love and attention you give them. They take that stuff and mold it into themselves and create who they are. They aren't 'us'. They aren't 'ours'. As soon as the sperm enters that egg as a parent you cease to have control over what your child will become.
And I would crawl through broken glass forever to give my children everything they need to become who they are. So, no, it's not a burden for me to go to therapy to work through my own issues and my prejudices so I can be the best mother I can be to my children. It's the very fucking least I can do. It's not a burden for me to endure judgment, or mocking, or derision, or whatever might be thrown my way for the choices my children will make freely about their futures. Those are people I don't want in my life anyway.
And if my children start experimenting with identities to see what fits and change their mind four times a day you will catch me with an app that can help me keep up to date with what's important to them, because it's far more important for me to see my children thrive than to be seen as normal and acceptable.
The only thing I 'understand' now is that the only possible path to loving your child is to simply to trust who they say they are.
They aren't you, and they know best.

the ICE ads were the final NOPE to spotify.
anyway I've switched to qobuz and it's FUCKING MINDBLOWINGLY AMAZING. I was like "what difference could sound quality make?" BUT A LOT. iT MAKES A LOT OF DIFFERENCE. I'm hearing these songs like I've never heard them before, like I actually was lying on the floor for an hour with toddlers jumping all over me completely fucking entranced by the high fidelity fucking music like I'VE FUCKING SEEN GOD AND I'M CRYING
qobuz, please. Ethical org and the music quality is FUCKING INCREDIBLE
guillermo del toro said so many insightful and funny things last night at the frankenstein q&a that i started taking notes. these are all direct quotes. i love this man.
That might be my favourite way of looking at adapting a book
