And then he felt it. A feeble spurt on his palm. Confused, he waited. It was followed by a series of them, bit hefty this time. “First contact”. Maybe she was hungry inside, or shifting her spot, or trying to reach out to her Dad. He was absolutely uncertain of what to feel at this moment. Euphoria? Impatience? Pride? Surprisingly, it was fear to hit first. Fear of responsibilities, for he hated them THE most. Fear of losing his freedom, for he valued it more than anything. Fear of whether he’ll do well as a Pop, for he was obsessed with perfection through his entire life. Then the excitement. And it came in torrents. A faint nip of glee, giving way to abrupt exhilaration. He was high, like never before. In a flash, he felt right about anything and everything he’s done so far in his life. It was all those takes and mistakes that led him right here – to this moment, and he would never trade this for anything else. He sensed his depraved past revamping into something meaningful, yet he knew that it would always be there, unaltered, and haunting. Tenderly, he leaned onto her. As he pressed his ears against her baby-bump, everything began to crystallize before him. The faint music of the heartbeats he heard, could mean only one thing for him – A purpose.
