It's a dumb boomer shooter where you fight a vampire, hell yeah!!!!! Basically I watched Vampire Hunter D again and decided to make a videogame

It's called "The Castle of the West" and you can wishlist that shit on steam today

Developers I am begging you, compress the fucking textures and audio just a tiny bit, I can guarantee gamers can take it

In case people were interested, I made the game playable in-browser, and uploaded it to NewGrounds and GameJolt as well!

Hopefully I can get to launching on Steam soonish, but for now I hope y'all enjoy!

It most definitely is, there's tons of great deep cut references. The tanks in temptation stairway are straight outta TempleOS

Later on, these things towards the end are highly reminiscent of The Portals from Narbacular Drop (predecessor to portal)

This juggler is straight out of an Amiga Demo

In power of potluck, these characters stretch from a black line when they appear, I don't have a gif of this, but it's pretty much exactly how earthbound enemies appear on screen if I'm not mistaken

Beyond these, there's plenty of references to all sorts of media throughout ENA and I am absolutely here for it. It creates this vibe where constantly I'm having synapses fire that remind me of other things, but in a context where I have no idea where to pin them down quite on. And it's not just direct visuals. Tons of audio cues, camera movement, and more are borrowed from so many places, so openly, it comes together all so well to create something truly unique. It's precisely why I love ENA so much
