Finally saw PHM today and I gotta ask: considering Rocky's mate is only ever spoken about in reference to being Rocky's mate, and is never given a physical description of any kind, why does everyone, and I mean EVERYONE depict them as three to four times Rocky's size and teal-colored? Who started that trend?

not sure who started it exactly, but the reason they’re teal-colored is because of the marriage inclusion that rocky has for adrian!

plus rocky has some teal accents on his puppet so its popular to see this little inclusion as a piece of adrian’s carapace that rocky has, and adrian would have a piece of rocky

adrian is widely headcanoned to be large im assuming because there is something very charming about a small hyperactive guy who loves his much larger and calmer mate very much (its got the energy of that one my little pony picture with a big princess cadance and a rly fucked up looking shining armor)

The first day in Teacher Grace’s class is widely acknowledged amongst the Eridian children as one of the most exciting days of school, partly because what could be cooler than being taught by the alien schoolteacher who helped save your entire planet, but especially because the first day is the day when Teacher Grace helps everyone choose their human names.

The students all take turns telling him about themselves, what they like, what they want to do, who they are, and Grace in turn tells them about the names they make him think of, and the stories (fictional and real) that go with them, and the kids get to pick the ones they like.

It’s a beautiful exchange of cultures and personal experiences, and every class is unique (one class ends up entirely named after niche Star Trek characters after requests from multiple students result in “Earth culture storytime” devolving into Grace infodumping about his favorite show and everyone becomes obsessed). 

Grace is known for being a good deal more forgetful than the average Eridian (“leaky space brain for leaky space blob” Rocky once jokingly put it) but he has never once forgotten a student’s name.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

You know, one of my favourite things about Ryland Grace is how sociable he is. How easy it is for people to fall into his orbit. They show it time and time again. How much his students obviously love him, how he manages to hype up the dour suits whilst he's testing the astrophage, Carl playing with him in the Home Depot, the other government people eating his Skittles, Eva Stratt dragging him around everywhere and allowing herself to be just that little bit more vulnerable around him, Rocky and the Eridians embracing him as not just as a savior but family.

I know it's not explicit that Grace is aroace but so often, aroace people are portrayed as distant and independent and happily isolated. Sometimes even to the point of misanthropy. It's so nice to see a character like this who loves connecting with people. He's a rambler, he's excitable. So what if he doesn't have a family or a dog. He doesn't need them because he has everyone he meets and that's enough.
