one thing i will say is that i think it will always be more chronically online and cringe to hate on others for stupid shit instead of just blocking/not engaging. people who genuinely champion for censorship or removal of tags on ao3 are fighting a lost battle against an ARCHIVE (not a social media site) made by freaks. rpf has existed since the dawn of society. i’m noticing that as the years go by and fandom and subculture become more accessible, the more restrictive they become. like as if it must sanitize its rougher edges in order to reassure the locals that “hey, i know [insert fandom] is weird but im one of the good ones!” overall, i think we all need to grow up, mind our business, and partake in DONT LIKE, DONT READ

i don't believe i am the best to answer this but it is an ongoing fandom beef between two very prevalent fanfic authors. i believe the issue was over certain characterizations in fanfics (especially john's more abusive and cruel side). i don't want to name names, since i am big fans of both of their work and they've both decided to step back from tumblr. just know that it has gotten pretty vicious and caused several people to leave the fandom as a whole.
