staying in place may be harder than it is to barge further into the crowd during certain moments. especially right now, when everyone’s heading away from the stage in an effort to catch a break from the performances while they’re switching performers. seonghan just finished his popsicle, although he’s tempted to get another. he knows his friends are leaving for a while though, leaving seonghan to tag the place. as much as he can as one person, that is.
he’d been moved forward and backward a few times, but have mostly stayed within the area he occupied earlier. he has half a mind to say screw it and leave regardless, let his friends fend for themselves. until someone ends up literally colliding into him, and he stays in place to break the fall.
the sound of the voice feels familiar, and he can see a familiar hue of green in the back of his eyelids. seonghan blinks it away, enough for him to properly look at the face of the individual in question.
plus, he feels a sharp pain on his foot—and he flinches ( a part of himself is glad that his body reacted to that, it’s not wholly dead after all in times like these ). he does recognize the cause though, and it’s maya. he doesn’t know too much and while he doesn’t think they’re intimately close, she’s a friend of sunhee’s. he tends to treat everything related to sunhee with care.
“it’s okay, don’t worry about it,” seonghan smiles, waving a hand to show the other that it isn’t a big deal. honestly, it isn’t. “accidents happen. are you okay? people were being really pushy, weren’t they?” he lets out a sigh, shaking his head in disapproval.
“you didn’t hurt me. you were the one who almost fell… i’m glad my body could stop that from happening, at the very least. maybe that’s why i was pushed here.” his foot stings, but it’s already fading away now. “i’d suggest we move elsewhere so it doesn’t happen again, but… i’m guessing you’re also trying to protect your spot?” he asks. “i suppose all i can offer you now is company, then. so you don’t fall over on your own—only if it happens, of course,” he jokes a little.
maya is taken aback still, both literally and figuratively: she can still feel some pressure from the crowd moving behind her as a natural pathway starts to form just next to where they’re standing, and she’s also still processing the fact that, out of all the thousands of feet she could have stomped on that day, it had to be of someone she knows. typical.
“yeah... it’s like they’re animals out here”, she pouts slightly, shifting her weight to make sure she is not within foot-stomping range ever again. “like a cattle stampede. i mean, are they crazy? people could get seriously hurt!” well. more people could get hurt, she supposes.
she’s suddenly taken aback again, this time by seonghan’s comment. she can’t help the butterflies fluttering in her soul, but she does her best to stay focused in the conversation. “i really am sorry though”, she bows her head slightly. “and i guess i should be thankful that you were here to break my fall. i’ll owe you one”, she smiles slightly, not wanting him to think too much into that. just a little bit, perhaps. “yeah, my friend is getting us drinks. if i leave this spot i’m afraid she won’t ever find me again... i’d love the company”, she nods, “if anything so we look more like a united front against the stampede---”
and as she’s about to finish her sentence, someone else stumbles into her, pushing her slightly into seonghan once more. at least there are no feet injuries this time.well. i guess this is where i live now, she thinks to herself as she uses her hands to keep some distance between them still. “ugh. i’m never doing a music festival again.”
