Or maybe he heard Less and remembered that day Remus told him he couldn't keep hurting him because he was always going to be inlove with Sirius.

Perhaps he heard Cigarette smoke and remembered that first summer where they would sneak around and kiss and he could taste the cigarettes on Remus breath after they shared a smoke wishing more than anything that even after all this time together he could finally just love him more than he ever loved sirius.

Sirius writes little love notes for Remus everyday until one day he realizes Remus never mentions them or does anything to return the favor not that he had to Sirius just assumed he wasn't the type of sentimental person to keep stuff like that until their anniversary rolled around and Remus hands him 365 paper stars in a tiny box with the Canis Major constellation drawn on it. Remus tells him to open the stars up. Sirius opens up one and realizes each one is a response and or more to all of his love notes.

He starts sobbing because he's never felt so loved and considered in his life.
