Watching jjk with a friend and the whole time I'm thinking "this shit is so ass why do people like it.."

Like, this might genuinely be one of the worse shonen I have ever watched. No structure. The fights makes no damn senses because they keep making up new rules to win every damn turn. Most characters look like they from an entirely different show. The plot is truly ... Lame. Everyone is aura farming so nothing feel really that impressive. Idk, it's too messy.

Like, it could be good. I think the animation is fire, the characters can be interesting and all have cool designs. But it just isn't good as a whole. So far at least ..

i had multiple people tell me i should watch jjk because i would enjoy it but like, so far i cannot see i would.

like full disclosure my knowledge is reading stuff on the wiki, seeing posts and watching scenes on youtube (because thats just what i do to get into stuff im weird like tha)

i saw that fight with maki and nobara and the other girls in the forest and thought okay that looks neat actually. and then every single other fight i saw is just incomprehensible and not even in the visually stunning way.

what i have seen of yuji so far he stikes me as the same bland no personality beyond im the good natured guy whe really cares about his friends deeply but i will be enraged if bad people are being bad and not nice because everyone deserves respect type most shonen protags are

i thought maki was neat. the idea of someone becomming a badass jj sourcress out of spite and circumventing her lack of power with tools and her glasses sounded cool.

but then this whole heavenly restricted nonsense comes in and its basically actually she has a total different kind of supernatural power (but supernatural power nonetheless) so it utterly negates the whole

"i might be lacking and disatventaged but i will fight twice as hard out of spite" and makes it a "you ostracized me for being weak... well turns out i never was weak to begin with!"

Yeah I watched the first season and I enjoyed the funny parts but it was actually an extremely sad show. Nobody warned me going in that it would be sad. And nobody seems to care about Junpei whatsoever???? The end of that season destroyed me but somehow I’m the only one.

I did really like jjk0 the prequel movie. Rika is so cool and I liked yutas storyline. I think it worked since he started out super depressed which set the tone (meanwhile yuji is a relatively happy kid for someone in his situation but then worse and worse and worse and worse things keep happening to him and his friends)

But yeah the powers definitely don’t seem to follow any logical system which makes it hard to follow.

I think my favorite version of jjk is the fanon skit videos on TikTok where most of the jokes are about megumi being gojos adopted son and whatever ship shenanigans are going on.

Contrary to popular belief the biggest beginner's roadblock to art isn't even technical skill it's frustration tolerance, especially in the age of social media. It hurts and the frustration is endless but you must build the frustration tolerance equivalent to a roach's capacity to survive a nuclear explosion. That's how you build on the technical skill. Throw that "won't even start because I'm afraid it won't be perfect" shit out the window. Just do it. Just start. Good luck.
