NRaas Needs Your Assistance!

Do you use the NRaas mods? Has the information on the NRaas website and forum ever been useful to you? If so, a moment of your time please!

I’d like to share the current situation with Simblr – which you can also read about directly from the site owner here: https://www.nraas.net/community/topic15428

While it seemed like we were entering an era of old-internet revival and indie websites in the fight against the dead-internet, a significant road block has emerged. Prices have inflated drastically for server parts, memory, storage, and server-hosting itself. This puts all non-profit online communities in peril.

As a result, the site owner has opened a Patreon so that the community can help cover the costs of keeping us online.

Important clarification:

The NRaas mods are NEVER going to be paywalled. The project will remain open-source and free for everyone. Donations are optional.

These mods are still in active development! The site and mods have been maintained by Chain_Reaction since Twallan's retirement, providing countless updates and support. Lots of cool stuff over there if you haven't updated in a hot minute.

There is no pressure to donate if your situation does not allow for it. Thank you for the consideration!

Long post ahead with information on the situation and some incentives for reaching membership goals.

If you've had some trouble accessing the site over the past week or so:

The situation is directly caused by the greed and encroachment of something we’re all uncomfortably familiar with: AI companies and the companies investing in them (of simmer relevance, that includes EA and Krafton (InZoi)).

NRaas is not the first nor will it be the last to be affected. Website servers already suffer from bots trawling and scraping their content – including your content that you write and share just about anywhere. Now they’re being bought off entirely. Archives and file-hosting are at high risk. Myrient is a recent example of an archive that went offline for this very reason.

It can feel a bit grim, but I want to assure you that the burden isn't yours to bear as an individual. As a community, it's actually quite easy to become hostile - and more important, unprofitable - to these invasive species as it were.

The past 26 years of modding and storytelling was OVERWHELMINGLY built upon free software, non-profit websites, and shared resources. A few unscrupulous paywallers and corporate greed isn't going to rewrite that history. Greed is the minority - but it does try to eat everything in its path.

That's all I ask - if you enjoy the fruits of The Sims community or enjoy being a part of it, make it just a little more inconvenient to swallow us.

Do not tolerate GenAI in our community spaces.

Do not support EA or Krafton. Let obscurity and irrelevancy devour them.

Do participate in the community wherever you think you'd find a little piece of purpose - make a blog for your stories, come chat with us in the Chatterbox forum at NRaas, make your first mod.

Lastly:

In a separate post, I'll be posting some CC incentives that will be released as milestones are reached. This content will not be paywalled - it will be posted for free as thanks to the community.

This is being offered on my own accord and is not the official reward for any particular tier. None of the proceeds are going to me!

Please look out for that over the weekend, I still need to take all of the preview screenshots which is perhaps the least exciting part of making CC.

Potatoes!!

Or at least a family closely associated to them, the Parmentiers.

But first, a little bit of history, an apology to our neighbours to the East... And maybe treason?

This somewhat "risqué" bit of architecture is the Parmentier house.

The name may ring a bell.

This lovely gentleman is Auguste Antonin Parmentier.

Auguste:"HIIIIIIIII!! Bath. naked. out!"

So, he his not THE Parmentier. That's his older brother, Antoine Augustin Parmentier (I know, I know, too many kids and parents start lacking imagination), the man who invented potatoes.

Or so that's what we were taught at school when I was little, not with a little amount of pride.

I call BS. Potatoes have been around in the Andes for 8000 years, and the mayas and their descendants knew how to cultivate and consume without the help of any Frenchman, Thankyouverymuch.

There was no need of any French help either to help spread it around Europe.

However, those potatoes were almost relegated to animal feed, and often accused to enable leprosy, in France in particular, wich was silly because the climate was going to the dump thanks to a volcano, wheat didn't grow and people had to eat.

And the magnificent potato is wonderful with that. You need very little more outside of them to achieve food security, as many Irish farmers could testify to before said potato illness and the great famine.

Enters Parmentier the elder, who decided to engage in a bit of reverse psychology: "Since they don't want it, lets have guards around it 24/7, they'll think it's precious and want to steal it.

Worked like a charm.

And it didn't take that long for potatoes to win cooks over. It is not only filling, but extremely versatile, much more than it's predecessor the turnip.

Anyhow, this is Auguste Parmentier. Riding on his brother fame, he studied botany, and then went on a complete world tour.

He is now back in France, and in Funfet as a full Botanist and science teacher at the local university.

Tis not the Sorbonne, but it's a decent job and leaves plenty of time for a side little gig he's got going.

Auguste specialize in tropical plants he collected all ober the world... especially one:

A simflouz tree!!

A quite unique plant, at least around here. The aritos, who are feeling the pinch, are fascinated and falling over of a tree growing money.

Some have tried to more or less throw their daughters at him... Wich is unlikely to work for a reason we'll see later, with the house tour.

Now for the apology: The French fries.

They're not French.

Here, I said it. They're most likely Belgian because honestly, Moules frites.

But in our defense, it's not our fault. Americans apparently got co,fused because geography during WWI, and the name stuck.

In English, because in French it is simply "les frites" ( The miam afterwards is optionnal, but frequent.)

K-101 K-303 K-505 K-707 - ENCHANTED BY NATURE

Hello people :)

And here comes Enchanted by Nature, in its k-hippie version :D

There was a lot to do, much beyond the many plants and mostly ... tricky things and stuff. As they say, devil is in the details. And indeed, it took us more time than usual to go through the whole files and details ( such as the stony walls wandering all over the world, mainly in Everdew & Sprucederry ) And we even didn't yet dig below the surface ! :D

Before going to the details, we have a ... RANT ( again )

Maxis did a sloppy job with this world. Okay, Everdew is super cool but the two other neighborhoods ? There's almost NOTHING in there. Sprucederry Grove is as interesting as Newcrest ( but without the lot slots and so, the ability to build ) ... They totally failed Adhmor. It could have been so cool ! But then, how can we be surprised ? It's exiting like a touristic Downton on.a bank holiday at 4pm ... It's sloppy and LAZY. Maxis is back at creating world that are uninteresting, empty, unattractive. Feels like a throwback in the past and if that's the future of Sims 4 development, then please, PLEASE, release a world building tool ....

That being said, we worked on each and every aspect of Innisgreen, lovely at first look ... As we previously said, there was a lot to do and so it took time to go through the files. And let's say we had a lot of fun to watch the transformation of Everdew with the k-707 plants & trees :)

k-101 : 2 roofs and 3 floors

k-505 : all terrains : grassy, urban, roady, rocky, etc ... you should get 4 files related to the k-505 :)

k-707 : 15 enchanted trees & 46 enchanted plants ( + 1 base game which seems to have been added recently : k-hippie-k707-nature-base-plant-debug-grass-GEN-reid-reeds-08082025 ) -> we put it in both k-707 basegame and k-707 enchanted in order to avoid for those who already have the whole k-707 2025 mod to re-download the whole stuff ;) but its true place is inside the k-707 basegame plants ...

So, what about the k-303 ? well, things are evolving. Always :D As the k-202 ( ea floor paints replacement ) is quite for a long time now, and as we currently re-organize our files, and as we are always working on new projects ..................... the k-202 is joining too the k-101 select club to let the place to new content related to the k-mods !

Do not worry. It's not so confusing ...

k-707 => well you know ;) the whole plants & trees

UPDATES JULY 2025 & K-HIPPIE NEWS

Hello Everyone :) And Here some updates YOU NEED TODO in order to keep your beloved k-hippie k-mods folders cosy and warm :D

Why those updates ? -> Because we are preparing for September a HUGE update of the k-606 ( ALL non-debug game fences ) which was due for a while now ;)

What is going to change ? -> At first, the roofs are leaving the k-606 to enter the select club of the k-101 ... Why ? well due to the gigantic size and number of fences, we'll keep those into the k-606, sided with the foundations. So, remember, starting now :

floors & roofs are now in the k-101 mod

fences & foundations are still in the k-606 mod

What about the k-505 ? -> We began to re-check and clean some of the k-505 terrain mod to include the DEBUG fences which are now inside every k-505 Urban ( only ) files ... The ones already made and available on our website :

Just a little update

Hey guys!

You might've noticed that my level of activity is very low and sometimes non-existent. That's just life - this was such a big project that I worked on for so long, I've started other projects and other things and more life things.

BUT, I haven't abandoned my work here. I just take a few months off and then come back to work on some more sets. That's not going to change any time soon. You'll see some bulk sets showing up in the next few hours cause I'm back for another round.

I wanted to make this post to tell you all that I do see your messages! I do receive them and I see the concerns you have with some content - specifically premium content. You're not speaking to the void. However, dealing with those is going to be put off for a while still.

I want to finish uploading the sets on my discord. So, as a reminder, all sets have been uploaded on this tumblr. I'm not done uploading the sets and items on my discord however. And while I do that, I also share packaged versions of the sets so you don't have to download one by one here on this tumblr.

Once I'm done uploading on discord (which I don't have an ETA for sorry) I'll be starting to comb through all the lovely messages to see if I can fix some of the content. I've gotten a lot better at coding since I started this, so I might genuinely be able to fix up some of the troublesome pieces.

I know this is from last year but it feels relevant today.

I want to blame Patreon. I'm actually blaming Patreon. I also blame the whole community because when that blog who reblogged every CC under the sun we all felt alive. But then, the whole community relied on that one blog. So we're also all to blame.

Now I kinda blame the algorithm but also people's bad taste because I keep seeing the same thing over and over. And it's not even stuff I like. I wanna be supportive but come on, where's the different stuff, where's the creativity?

If everyone is on discord ( simcord?? ) Well, I've been on some and people are nasty over there. At least here I don't have to talk to most of you, I can ignore whatever y'all say and focus on pretty pictures, storytelling and CC. Harder on chats.

SIMS 3 CUSTOM WORLD LOADING SCREENS

Lost Cove 2025 is on its way : at last :) We are going to post everything related this weekend ( ANTS, cc, screens, the world and so on ) It's going to be a bold update ;) BUT FIRST ...

Before that, let me introduce the

World Loading Screen Overhaul v2

by gamefreak130 available on MTS : here which gives the ability to get custom loading screens.

As many others, we do not have anymore 4:3 computer screen. Our screens are more or less bigger, with better graphics and most of time : 16:9 or 16:10 ...

So, in addition to our own S3 worlds loading screens, we made a special batch of screens in maxis S3 original style for all the Sims 3 Worlds :D Some are the same than the originals, we just reworked the picture and made it : 1920x1080, as all other screens ( the originals maxis screens are 1024x768 )

Of course, all the credits goes to gamefreak130 for the mod. We only made some cool pictures ;)

And here are the images, beginning with our custom worlds :) But they are all there, the 23 worlds of the Sims 3, encapsulated into the .package of gamefreak130, ready to go to tour Mods/Packages folder.

Hey maybe someone converted some S3 stuff that looked like that repair-stuff kit ( I don't know the name ) I mean come on, those kits are low effort ... you can probably find way better for free in the CC tags.

We should start doing that. Comparing kits and free stuff already made or converted.

LET'S TALK ABOUT WALLS & THE K-FAKTORY : HUGE UPDATE :)

For our 500th post, we really had to make something special ... So here we go !

We just finished to post on our website both direct x11 update of our walls and the release of brand new walls :) for a total of 80 walls ... Proof we do not make overrides only :D

OH NO ! A BIT OF MATHS HERE ...

Before the direct x11 update, quality walls were calculated on a base of 1 tile ( 256px ) so we were used to create 3 sizes for each wall ( 768 - 1024 -1280 ) ...

I scratched a long time my head to search a good soluce to keep the best quality possible ... When you make a very maxis match wall, flat style and so on, you use the same sizes than maxis : 512px ( for 768/3 tiles ) - 512px ( for 1024/4 tiles ) - 1024px ( for 1280/5 tiles )

The problem when you make more realistic walls, ( and even more with bricks and minerals, stone, wood and so on ) is that all textures are stretched as hell : 512 -> 768 - 512 -> 1024 - 1024 -> 1280

We finally decided to make 1 no-destructive size of 1024px for all 3 sizes ... in order to be 100% compliant with direct x11 :)

We tested. It is not at all more heavy than our previous direct x9 walls :) and it stretches the tall wall size from only 0.25, which means a few pixels only, same than maxis, and for the short & medium size, the result is much more fine, far away from the maxis match stretch ;) Here some examples :

WALLS EVERYWHERE ...

Here are some new walls and new re-work texturing we made recently, meaning downloadable on our website but not yet released ... until now of course :)

Wood Cottage Botanika Walls set 1-2-3 : Those are 3 sets of low paneling wood walls with peaceful wallpapers. For your cosy cottage.

Wood Flower Walls set 1 : Full wood walls with spring/summer leaves painted upon. Those ones are truly beautiful. Perfect for summer. The orange one may even be good for Halloween. Try it is adopt it :D

Mosaic Pool Walls sets 1&2 : Those ones are on our website for a long time now. We updated the texture pixels to get a cleaner result, without destroying the vintage grain ;) the fish is not included ...

Paper Noise Fabric Walls set 1 : This one is a re-combined set of 2 older sets ... We took the best of both and made a new set. Cool.

Wood Breeze Walls set 1 : A Classic summer wood shutter style for your outside/inside walls ... Perfect for a patio. What else ?

Wood Classic-Panel Walls set 1 : A very classic style of panels which could be perfect for your own private library ... True wood, based upon true panels ... what are you waiting for ? :D

Wood Tri-Wood Walls set 1 : An easy full wood structure and a good style of panels for your shops. Contemporary without any too much touch. Soft and cosy indeed !

Wood Westside Walls set 1 : Another full wood style of panels. And when we say full wood, we really mean true wood. Quality of life and style guaranteed ;)

... And here are some of the ones we re-made during our updates :)

Do not forget to have a visit to the k-Faktory ! We have 70 different sorts of concrete, numerous bricks, many many mineral lime walls and some really cool metal walls too. You won't regret it :D And as always, quality is privileged over quantity ... true wood, true masonry, true stone ;)

Well, what more about the k-Faktory ?

A huge update of many things and stuff inside the sims4 k-faktory such as :

the Photonik Windows update

I invite you to get a cosy promenade along of our 14 pages of things and stuff, have a look and who knows ? You may find some packages which could interest your Sims ;) And we advice strongly to update the Photonik 44 windows in order to avoid glitches we found recently. We remade ALL the meshes, and some based on a new ea model ... gosh, it took a really hard working time for these ones ! ;)
