Aaaaaahhhhh, I wanna go watch fireworks with my darling jingly floaty horse man youkai Misuzu!!!😫 The way he’s drawn here kinda makes it look like he’s got a fishtail, so is he Misuzu the darling jingly floaty merhorse man youkai? Sure, why not.
Kinda seems like Misuzu, Hinoe, and One Eye are the only ones looking in the right direction? Nishimura is at least trying to catch his friends’ attention and being all like, “Heeyyyyy guys, you know the thing we’re here to see? Look this way! Guyyyyyyys!” Though the poster would be a lot less eyecatching if it just had all the characters’ backs facing the viewer lol. Let’s just say there’s a 360 view of the fireworks in the sky.
Musuko: I wonder if those kids gave the exorcist a note and the stone. Haa haa...I hope the exorcist comes.
Musuko: E-Em…
Natori: Are you the one who gave Natsume and Tanuma-kun the note?
Musuko: Ah…Yes, I'm Kashima!

Musuko: I’m just interested in exorcism…Since you’re here in the village, I was wondering if even someone like me could consult with you about exorcism matters…
Natori: Ahh…To consult? I’ll listen to what you have to say, but…
Natori: …if it’s regarding an exorcism job, there are certain procedures that need to be followed for members of the general public.

Musuko: What do you think of this village? Even though the calamity has been sealed away in the Box… For some reason, ever since ancient times, strange things have happened here time and again.
Musuko: The Square House families live in fear, and sometimes they call on spellcasters or exorcists, but even though this has been going on for generations—time and time again, by many people—yet it doesn’t seem to work…even now.
Musuko: Exorcist-san, here’s what I think: There’s a terrifying entity in this village that’s beyond the reach of any exorcism.

Tanuma: Natsume, is it here by any chance?

Man: Sorry! Iwakura-sa-an, is Shiori-chan here? I came on an errand for Kugi-san.
the Iwakura's family member: Are you looking for someone?
Shiori: My dad? Is there something he needs from me?
Man: It seems the leader of the Matoba clan is going to perform some kind of exorcism ritual for the village. They’ve asked the villagers to stay indoors as much as possible during that time.
Tanuma: Natsume, what on earth is Matoba-san doing…?
Natsume: I don't know…We should probably let Natori-san know too…
Nyanko-sensei: You idiot. He’s no kid—he’ll handle it just fine.
Man: I’ll meet up with Iwakura’s wife and the others along the way to let them know.

Asami: When is this exorcism ritual happening?
Man: It’s scheduled for about an hour from now. We’re passing the word around to everyone in the village through the communication chain, but since there are some elderly folks out in the fields around here, I’ll go make the rounds myself.
Shiori: Got it! I’ll go around and let everyone know, too.
the Iwakura's family member: Oi! Shiori-chan and the others, stay inside! What if something happens when you’re out there?!
Shiori: Iwakura-sama. I’ve been scared the whole time. I knew that someday I’d be forced to deal with those things I don’t understand. I…I was just so scared I couldn’t do anything.
Shiori: But just as Sumi-chan and the others came for me, and just as Iwakura-sama surely cares about us, I want to do what I can, too.
the Iwakura's family member: I see…
the Iwakura's family member: …Thank you, Shiori-chan. Can I have that piece of paper?
Shiori: I'm going!
Asami: Shiori, I'm going too!
the Iwakura's family member: Sorry to bother you guys, but could you listen to me for a moment?
The Iwakura's family member: I’m the one who swapped the Box.
Female villager 1: Kashima-san, Kashima-san…Let us see it for a second.
the Kashima's family member: Ahh, sorry. We’ve already stopped showing the Box. I got scolded by the head of the Matoba clan.
Female villager 1: No, no — What we came to see is the memorial portrait.
the Kashima's family member: …Eh?
Female villager 1: A little while ago, we saw a young man climbing the hill behind the house…but his face…

fake!Musuko: Yes! Yes! I caught the exorcist. That place really is special after all.
Natori: …Special?
fake!Musuko: That's right. I was nothing.
fake!Musuko: But on the day the previous people were passing the boxes around, I thought I heard a sudden scream coming from that mansion…
I tried to sneak under the floorboards to get closer to the room where the sound came from, and when I did, a mysterious power and memories poured down on me.
It made me feel all tingly and incredibly good. Look—ever since then, I’ve gained enough power to even take human form.
fake!Musuko: ...I gained unexpected power and got a little carried away…
Natori: So it was you who was mocking people of the Square House by imitating them during this box-passing ritual?
That form… is it from the memories that came pouring down?
fake!Musuko: Right, that’s why it’s so vivid. The faces and voices of those people from the Square House—the power that came down back then still lingers in that space under the floor.
fake!Musuko: Power strong enough to subdue even an exorcist with a mere stone. I realized it by watching the people the Square House calls whenever something happens.
Exorcists are nothing special. There’s no way they could exorcise someone like me who possesses this power.
fake!Musuko: That’s why I decided to eliminate them. I, myself, will take care of those exorcists.
Natori: Unfortunately…I don’t know how capable those exorcists are that the families from the Square House called and that you've seen.
Natori: Don’t you get it? The ones currently in this village—
Natori: —are real exorcists, against whom someone like you won't stand a chance!
the Iwakura's family member: There isn’t much time left before the ritual…Will you come with me?
Natsume: Where to?
the Iwakura's family member: To where the Real box is.
Natsume: [The stagnant energy lingering in the village…]
Natsume: […I feel like it's spreading even more than before…]
the Iwakura's family member: I used to think the Box was a guardian deity. Grandpa and Dad both seemed so proud of it. They said if we took good care of it, it’d surely protect this village.
the Iwakura's family member: But then, at that moment— when I heard the voice of a dead person coming from the Box — it sent a chill down my spine.
They said there’s something inside the Box that mimics the dead…something with a sensibility completely different from that of a human…
That’s when I suddenly got scared.
the Iwakura's family member: I thought, “Are we really going to pass something like this on to those kids?”
I can steel myself for my own sake...
But for those kids… they might not be able to handle it, and they might not even know if the box in their hands is the real one.
I even went so far as to reach out to my contacts to see if there was any way to purify it.
Of course, it didn’t work out…
the Iwakura's family member: …Hm? Right…Why…why did that person know that the Iwakura's Box was the real one…?
Tanuma: That person?
the Iwakura's family member: Just as I was at a loss, someone called me.
the Iwakura's family member: *click* It's me, Iwakura…
???: The box you have is the real one. As a special favor, I’ll teach you how to purify it.
As someone who deeply loves Over the Garden Wall and the Among Us show, and also has not ever seen The Lord of the Rings movies, I feel like I did some kind of speedrun sequence-skip into being an Elijah Wood fan

i think americans should have to put a banner above their post that says U.S. CENTRIC ADVICE/INFORMATION. i think political posts should clarify that they are giving protest/societal/class information relevant only to the USA i think i would like to stop getting halfway through a post with really good information and then realising it is not widespread advice and is only applicable in the united states of america
for the love of GOD can we PLEASE stop treating us-centric advice as applicable to the whole entire world. Please. beyond anything else, i do not think you guys understand how difficult it makes it for young people to interact with and learn information relevant to them.
at a certain point, treating us-american advice as universally applicable borders on misinformation. i am not saying that it is done maliciously, but it is dangerous at worst. i do not want younger people going around assuming that certain laws do/do not apply to them and getting in trouble because of it. i worry about what 'fundamental/constitutional/labour rights' are only legally defensible in the USA. i worry about kids who do not know yet to wonder where the advice is for, and take it as fact because a post that reads "EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS" begins with "EVERYONE".
okay yes all the tags are very very good points but i would like to point out the main reason i made this post, which is that
if you are non-american then it can be dangerous to hold beliefs about your rights that are only applicable in the US.
i am australian and i have seen young australians have completely us-american perceptions on the rights they hold (or do not hold) in regards to protest, police officers, self-defense, medical care, higher education, debt, and legal proceedings. i am not talking about "boooo americans" i am talking about the genuine danger it might present to have us-centric assumptions in high-stakes situations
(please do not chalk this up to 'if you don't do research then you are stupid'. i made this post with young people in mind. that being said i am willing to bet it also applies to others, ie those who are newer to non-local internet, older folks, or those escaping high-control environments.)
