Didn't want to 2. realized almost everyone else is covered head to toe #so for easier color picking. not too much variation #one may notice that codriel is the only one here with shading in his hair other than a liiittle bit to establish staurolite (third to last)#as having gem hair. this is because codriel's skin tone and hair color are very close #so he needs the shading more than most of the others #“what about valdsten” Good question. You must understand that drawing refs is like losing a fight with a wolverine #that is actually a deliberate codriel trait though. when i made him in game the first time back in like 2018 he had very similar hair #and skin tones. and that's kind of just been a trait of his to me ever since. he's cute he's cute to me #Oh i remembered the other trivia was that suleil was the absolute worst ref to work on #having gone through FOUR FUCKING SKETCHES at LEAST #until on the last one i just said fuck it to giving her a body and found a different non ref sketch of her i never finished to repurpose #having been a nightmare to color and a nightmare to clothe #because of course she was. #image described #every time i look at this i find something new to hone in on....#there's the shadows. i like the red and purple and the way they're cast across his face #there's the style of rendering‚ the cursivey loopy lines. which is so visually interesting already #but that also helps set the mood for this specific drawing imo. this palette with this style with this expression on clavicus vile...#feels right. like he knows he's more powerful than us. just radiating the air of someone who isn't exerting himself‚ if that means anything #and i feel like that's gotta be a hard style to get right. it's just very beautiful and very impressive i really like it #something to come back and look at more than a few times definitely #and anyway there's also! the hard gaze the imp smile and the almost lazily draped hand #the broad shape of his hair and the flyaways. the part in his hair actually being drawn like this feels rare? it looks very good #oh every time i scroll up to comment on one thing i notice even more. the little swirlies all around him + the ones that almost look-#-like lace and gems hanging from his horn...such a whimsical touch. very very big fan of that #the little spots of green in the palette in his nail and on his shoulder i already liked but something about the softer muted pink in the #swirls especially with the harsh red in the shadows. especially with how the colors in the shadows are layered on each other #Have i mentioned how this style of rendering looks hard to get right and very impressive. #image described #these are so cuuuute #i like the palette... citrusy in the same way that summer is #the mix of lined and lineless in this style is so fascinating to look at and pulled off so well...#such nice weight. pulls things together #+ the little dash of pink in the first character's palette #the brush textures as well it feels like the longer i look the more i can pick out #i almost wanna say that it reminds me of a collage in a subtle way. in that the piece feels full #and composed from different aspects. despite not actually being in a collage style #it might just be that i associate these kinds of palettes with collages but i stand by it feeling full in a complete‚ satisfying to look at #-type of way #i feel like the lines also help with that a lot. the blocky shapes and the solid black with the softer shadows #and i feel like the lineart not being present across the whole thing also adds to that feeling of being a style that has been Refined #as well as the shaping of the. shapes. the shaping of the brushstrokes? shaping of the blocks of color #where certain lines are thinned out by another stroke overtop them. usually in the middle of the line #unlike when a line thins out from brush settings or pen pressure #i really love the look of those sorts of carved out lines and these are an absolute feast of them #overall beautifully rendered work. the anatomy as well i love these faces!#the smile on the second drawing is so charming. and impressive to me! teeth and gums can be tricky to pull off #such nice work...#art

#image described #ooo i always love these kinds of expressions in art #very strong #i can't stop looking at the rendering... this sort of style with the smooth blending from visible layered brushstrokes is so pretty to me #her skin‚ the collar on her cloak‚ the strands of hair‚ the sort of ruffles on her outfit‚ the little wheel pin #the details are communicated so clearly and so appealingly #and so completely all without being overdone #it's a piece that feels confident in itself if that makes sense #you can zoom in and follow an individual line or a spot of color and see how they all work together to form the bigger picture #the very subtle differences in color for every strand to make the hair look full and alive...#the parts in the hair and on the collar closest to her skin having sliightly warmer tones... the highlights on the collar in general-#-communicate depth so well. i love seeing those sorts of sharp sculpted pieces they're so pretty #i just love the amount of detail in this #a piece that i wanna sit and admire #i love the color choices as well. the variation in hues particularly in her face‚ the shadow on her neck #as well as the overall theme #the specific purple and yellow in the background i think also pull things together nicely #but i think the background in its entirety pulls things together nicely. i like that glow...#this would make for a cool print i think. i don't know anything about prints i just think it'd be cool on a wall #lovely work! makes me wanna go and color something right away #art #skyrim #serana

#id in alt #tessecretsanta2025 #art #my art #skyrim #tes #the elder scrolls #enjoyed digging through these guys' character tags for this one. ok so the thought process #auriel's bow as the stage and the heart between them #the heart on account of them both being shezzarines (i.e. heart of lorkhan) but also because auriel was the god who shot lorkhan's-#-heart across tamriel to begin with as well as auriel's bow now being the spark of the conflict to begin with #therefore the bow as the stage and the heart between them BUT ALSO #the heart can be representative of the heartstone experiments in fencarlian's search for immortality #a search which he is on because of an injury sustained from a'tor #therefore the snakes. one biting the other's throat one sinking its fangs into the heart #the snakes are actually the first thing i thought of before i had any other ideas #on account of 1. fencarlian being under the serpent sign and a vampire (therefore fanged and venomous) and 2. a'tor being dragonborn #(dragons being serpentine in their own right)#and 3. snakes in mythology are as far as i know anyway usually portrayed at least two at a time #and wouldn't you know it. two of them #the sunset also is there on account of this being the conflict that made them into enemies ergo the sun setting on that alliance #initially it was going to be a fully red sunset for drama but i liked the periwinkle because it adds a touch of mournfulness #like sure it wasn't the most eager alliance but to end it like this and then be enemies?#i think the periwinkle It's kind of lavender. It was periwinkle in the sketch. #image described #cuuuuute #in character art is a really cool concept actually #rlly love these brush textures #especially at the top of the leg/edge of the dress and in the green #the pose also has a very relaxed air. i like the hand position #and the twist. like the physical twist of body #the slight purple in the makeup and the shade of green with the otherwise largely yellow palette as well #the light and shadow on the skin feel very subtle but very nice #particularly like the leg and the highlights on the shoulders #and of course i am always partial to a Fabric Wrinkle #art #lovely piece :]
