Good luck April 28th MCATers! Only 24 more hours until http://tinyurl.com/cv7neye
You've fallen asleep during a test because you pulled an all-nighter studying for it.
You've cried in front of a professor or TA at least once.
You've preemptively brought a pillow to the library at least once.
Everyone's favorite MCAT section!
How do I survive freshman year (or the rest of it, at least)? And what advice do you have for doing well in organic chemistry? :) What should I expect? Any advice for recovering from a bad grade (on an exam, or in a class)? Cool blog :)
1. Our most important advice for freshmen is to find solid mentors! While picking classes or extracurriculars seems to be straightforward, upperclassmen and professors often have invaluable information for making your life a lot easier (and your application a lot stronger) during your undergrad years.
2. If you do not already own it, buy Organic Chemistry I as a Second Language by Klein (find it here). Get ready to make lots of flashcards and study in groups! For organic chemistry lab, one helpful tip is to look up every procedure on youtube before lab and watch several variations so that you'll know what to expect in lab.
3. Getting a B or C will not wreck your dreams of medical school. Affixing yourself on grades, however, will hinder you from your goals. There's not much to do besides diagnose what went wrong with a mentor or professor, but the most important thing is to remember that a B- leaves a relatively fleeting impression compared to a significant experience such as a long term overseas trip or starting a non-profit. Always look ahead for ways to stand out!
On another side note: if you know anyone taking the STEP 1 tomorrow, give him/her a big hug. Good luck MS1/MS2's!
On a side note: CONGRATULATIONS to all April 13th MCAT test takers! Enjoy a well-deserved rest.
Your caffeine tolerance levels from late night studying have already made you ineligible for most caffeine studies on campus.

You've participated in multiple caffeine-addiction studies to make some extra cash (coffee money, of course).
The only time you ever used Craigslist was to buy MCAT study books.
When you go to biochem review sessions and refuse to ask questions but furiously take notes on what everyone else is asking.
Arriving at the library as everyone else is leaving for the night is pretty typical.
Your friends thought you were abroad for a whole semester when you were really just living pre- MCAT life in the library.

You deactivated your Facebook when preparing for your MCAT only to reactivite it several times while studying.
The two most important things in your life are Starbucks and Exam Krackers.
