PSA on "reblog karma"

I don't do it. One I don't like feeling forced to interact with a muse even if I have threads with them already. Two I have anxiety and other mental issues that make my memory absolute shit and I literally cannot keep track of who does reblog karma or not.

So to avoid any issues: let me know if you want me to perform reblog karma so I can unfollow.

also, cowboy culture was hella gay. like, write-poems-about-your-cowboy-partner gay.

IF people acknowledge it, they play the necessity card– there weren’t any women out on the range, so they had to “resort to men.” this claim completely erases 1) the romantic (not just sexual) writings of actual cowboys, 2) the acknowledgement of cowboys’ potential homosexual activity by writers at the time, and 3) the possibility that some men would deliberately become cowboys with the intent to seek out homosexual encounters.

no one wants to admit it, but cowboy culture was just. so inherently gay.

Taking Jesse’s hand, Ray led him off. “Well, now that you’re back, we have a lot of catching up to do! How about I make us a nice dinner? How do you feel about steak?”

Jesse stared, clothes still bundled in his arms, otherwise naked in the forest.

Johanna heard him, smelt him, long before she saw him. Normally she might’ve run off at the thought of being seen, especially as she was. But there’s something as familiar as it is unfamiliar about the scent of the approaching man. Something that says he’s not some hunter returning from his stand, or some hiker ambling through the forest, and it strikes her curiosity enough that it has her stalking through the forest away from her small little camp she’d made the day before and was returning to and towards him.

The sight of him, wandering about as she is strikes something of a confirmation for her that she’s truly not alone out here. And the effort to be quiet slips away as she found herself bounding through the foliage, coming to a stop several feet away from the man. Close enough to talk clearly, that he could probably see the heavy blanket of freckles on her own skin, but just far enough she can turn and run if he’s not friendly, or if her judgement was wrong and he’s some odd duck that just likes to wander naked in the wild.

“Hello,” she replied, brown eyes curious under the mop of red curls made even more wild by the moonlights adventures. “You’re… like me, yeah?”

Jesse gave a cautious sniff of the air before he relaxed. "Yeah....yeah I am." He smiled a bit and placed his hat on his head to tip it.

"didn't know there was anyone else around here. Uh...hope I ain't intruding."

The way he bothers to put his hat on just to tip it to her despite wearing nothing else earns him an amused smile.

“I didn’t know anyone else was out here, either. I hope I’m not intruding either.” She replied. “I was heading to my camp, if you want to join me for some breakfast.” She offered, a hopeful note in her voice. “I’ve not seen anyone else like me before, to be honest, I would welcome the company.” Well, not outside of her siblings, anyhow.

Jesse nodded and smiled. "I'd much appreciate that. No ya ain't intruding." He said walking forward and smiling. He was casual about his nudity, something he just was used to after a full moon.

"I ain't seen anyone else outside m'own family in a long long time."

Jesse looked at Hope. "You sure you want to see this?" He asked cautiously. "It ain't pretty."

Hope nodded reassuringly. “I do. I don’t want you to feel like you have to hide this from me anymore,”

She took his hands and squeezed them tightly. “It’s okay,”

Jesse nodded and gave her a kiss. "Ok." He stepped away and took a deep breath. He relaxed and after a short moment, the sounds started. The groaning and grinding of bones elongating. The strain of the loose clothes as Jesse quickly grew and became furry. The worst was probably the snarl on his face as his skull elongated and became more lupine.

Hope would be lying to herself if she claimed she wasn’t nervous. Her nerves were on edge as she watched Jesse step away, and then the sounds came. Her eyes widened, hand over her mouth to cover her gasp.

But even after all of that, she didn’t dare back away. When it appeared the transformation was complete, she stared in awe. How long has he been able to do this?! Not wanting to startle him, Hope slowly walked closer towards him and carefully rode a hand to caress the side of his face. “Oh, Jesse…”

Jesse panted, his heart settling from the rush of adrenaline that helped to ease the pain of shifting.

He flicked his ear and leaning into the touch, eyes meeting Hope's.

"it ain't as bad as it looks ..." He laughs, voice deeper by nearly two octaves. He sighed and wagged his tail lazily as he reached up to touch her hand on his face.
