Leading worship on Easter is quite special. Helping people fix their eyes on the savior in a world that points elsewhere, even more special. #CCJV
Sooo sick! Thank you @elisenda.farison for doing your thing with these engagement pics!
You ready to fight?
Iāve been busy. Really busy.
So much so, that I havenāt written a blog in over 6 months. Maybe because Iāve lost the inspiration to do so. Or it could be accredited to my laziness. Or even maybe just didnāt have anything to write about. Overall, Iāve just been busy.Ā
Business leads to tiredness, tiredness leads to laziness, laziness leads to thinking like a bum.Ā
And Iām no bum.
I look back at everything Iāve accomplished over the past 4 years of college. Switching my major from Kinesiology to Psychology. Becoming the President of the Cru movement on my Campus. Going on an 8 week long missions trip to Santa Monica. Becoming a Worship Leader at Calvary Chapel Jurupa Valley. So much has happened, and I couldnāt of guessed any of it.
Yet the one thing that blows my mind the most is the fact that I get to marry my best friend just 6 short months from now.
Itās been quite the roller coaster; our relationship. One day we could be on an extreme high, the next, searching for a way to get back up. People have left our lives, and people have moved into our lives. People have disagreed, people have agreed.Ā
I can remember our first real date. We went out to Islands Burgers for some dinner. She was wearing a green long sleeve. I couldn't stop staring at that beautiful dimple of hers. Then there was the time before our Mid-Winter dance, she came walking down the stairs and tripped in her heels. But it was so cute. Or there was the time when we spent our 2-year anniversary at Sea World, and got to swim with the belugas. What a day. Even all the times we found ourselves spontaneously going on drives through the mountains. And oh so much more. So many memories that are beautiful to look back on.Ā
Yet thatās not why I want to marry her.Ā
Those of you may not know, but Kayla and I havenāt always had a āsmooth sailingā type of relationship. You look on Facebook, and you see how happy we are, picture after picture, smile after smile. All those Disneyland trips may have made you feel jealous. And all that, yea it was fun. I wouldnāt change it for the world. But behind the Facebook, lies a different perspective. That perspective contains hard times. A lot of tears, a lot of anger. It includes our lives before Christ. Even with Christ in our lives today, we still hit bumps. Our dirty rags linger in, and we feel the weight.Ā
But weāve persevered.Ā
I feel like God intended our relationship to lay out in the exact way that it has. I feel that he wanted us to go through what we did. Not because it hurt, and because it was painful. But because he knew that we needed to learn. Not just learn, but help others learn. I would love to tell you that every day I spend with Kayla is the best day of my life, but I would be lying. There are rough days. But those rough days help me love her more. Watching God help us get over the bumps, thatās what makes me love her more. Seeing how she pursues Christ above school, above work, above our relationship; thatās what makes me love her more.Ā
One thing that Iāve learned throughout my life is that Jesus didnāt just stop. He kept going. People bashed him, he was whipped, spit at. Yet he persevered to the point of death on a cross. Life takes perseverance. Relationships take perseverance.Ā
The reason I want to marry Kayla isnāt because of all the great times weāve had together. The reason I want to marry Kayla is because of all the bad times weāve had together.Ā
All those tough times, all the rough nights, all the tears shed; to see us as a couple continuously overcome them. Thatās why I want to marry her. Because if Iām going to spend the rest of my life with someone, I want to know that we can overcome life together. If Iām going to spend the rest of my life with somebody, I want to know that theyāre up for the fight.
Life isn't going to be easy, I mean, it isnāt right now. College, work, bills. Itās not going to get easier. Itās going to get tougher. We are going to have to keep persevering. Weāre going to have to fight for this relationship for the rest of our lives.Ā
So for those of you who are in a relationship, or even want to be in one, itās time to ask yourself that question. Itās time to consider the task at hand. Itās time to get real with yourself.Ā
Are you ready to fight?Ā
Think about it.Ā
Great day of sharing here at #sdwc14! #coyotecru #gocsusbcoyotes
For unto us a child is born, unto us a child is given. And for that, we celebrate! Merry Christmas from the CCJV Fam!
God loves us the way we are, but too much to leave us that way.
