slapping all my vague barely-formed ideas down and apologizing ahead of time for how long and disjointed this might end up being. these ideas aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive (i can’t have this many characters... or), and if any spark ideas for you/you want to get involved w me on anything, just hit me up!! also please pardon me if any of these ideas are unrealistic/don’t keep with site lore; i read something about how species aren’t really limited, so i’m running wild slkfaj.
an ex-princess of some remote sheep-filled island whose parents offer her to a dragon that keeps killing said sheep. she somehow escapes said dragon and has since ventured to one of the main lands to get out of its reach for good (see: i would love if said dragon is actively trying to find her -- could go so many routes here, like there’s some big misunderstanding and it doesn’t actually want to eat/kill/whatever her... maybe going down the path of something vaguely uprooted-inspired if you’ve read that book. orrr maybe it is villainous? question mark bc it could be a villain with feelings or a villain who wants something back that she took from its hoard when she left or lskdja idk, just give me a dragon mans/womans). anyways, i think she’d be a bard class probably who is less charismatic than so candid and self-interested that people are taken aback by it. could see her being a part of some adventuring/group with a cause and being generally ridiculous and annoying but constantly surprisingly resourceful with her niche talents (when you’re a princess of shitsville, you have way too much time to learn weird skills)
because i love the “i’m a damsel, i’m in distress, i can handle it” trope, also maybe a lady character of some kind who has literally escaped Death, personified. idk what Death entails but if you’re feeling the Russian folklore vibes i’m putting down, feel free to pick them up.... oh wow and i just read the “so above, as below” lur sea stuff and um concept: family takes something from the sea, so some kind of sea entity wants to take something from them (see: daughter, sister, whatever) and she’s clever enough to actively be avoiding her fate/the inevitability of this??? this might overreach that plot point idk, just spitballing
either way, something with that lur “so above, as below” concept because i’m loving that....
a unicorn that has been given a human form for.... reasons idk, to stop being hunted or save the other remaining unicorns out there or...something. I just want an amalthea/the last unicorn concept going here because wow, favorite
circling back to dragons... maybe there are dragons out there (thinking like. dragons that can take human form at times/all the time idk per one of the asks that was answered i think?) that operate/have their own interactions and structure outside of the lands’ governing bodies and laws? like a dragon lord per land. or s/t. and they have their own agendas/politics with each other and wreak general havoc on the masses idk this is vague but i love the idea of dragons as these ancient, very bored creatures. idk if this is a character idea so much for me as it is me trying to make people more interested in making a dragon for that first idea whoops
some kind of drow/vampire/kelpie concept being who is generally shady and has to eat hearts or drink blood or s/t to live or keep his powers or something who is maybe like. one of the more human ‘monsters’ of the wildlands, but who joins up with some crew of witchers or do-gooders to keep a low profile or for kicks (easy down-low heart eating/blood drinking opportunities if everyone’s ok with ok with killing criminals??). and maybe someone is either actively hunting him (or the party he is with is specifically trying to hunt him down but doesn’t know it’s him they’re hunting and he’s just like.... there with them as;klf) or onto him?? idk give me cat and mouse stuff that can be as stupid and hilarious as it is dark and tense.
a howl jenkins pendragon inspired character... genius idiot wizard mans who is as likely to give you a shitty fake love potion as something real. maybe employed by the upper echelons of society or a govt or something and is salty about it because living up to your full potential?? following the rules and actually using your talents for productive means??? how drab
a simple farmer who (very, VERY) unwillingly gets wrapped up in adventuring or monster things and really just wants to grow the largest pumpkin ): or maybe someone he cares for gets wrapped up in some shit and he has to go on that “farmer to knight” type of trope journey and complains about it the enTIRE time
a tavern owner or st who can overcharge everyone and know way too much about everyone and everything (deals in info about their shady customers but really isn’t invested in any cause or side or anything). me: let’s get shady medieval-insp club owners up in here
maybe a changeling character.... i’m not sure on whether this would be a human in the fae realm or a fae in vanasta, but someone who isn’t happy about it either way and wants to open that door holding everything in the fae realm back (... how aware of the consequences are they? idk yet)
fae.... hunter. maybe they’re synthesizing fae magic somehow for their own uses or to facilitate some kind of black market fae-enhanced product trade in vanasta idk. me: fae-magic infused weaponry or drugs or potions??? idk if this is at all plausible or viable but
a golem-insp species. a character who is a statue come to life. maybe thinks they are whatever they were chiseled out as and has to undergo that realization that no, they’re a weird marble person. maybe hopelessly devoted to / attached to their sculptor and their sculptor is just like “.... please, i just wanted to make lawn art for my garden asdlfkja”
also very obsessed with karstem in general - would love to make a disgruntled lower class person in a group of disgruntled lower class people who feel the last rebellion Wasn’t Good Enough and are out to stir rebellion or just “eat the rich”
