Marlene McKinnon was not, nor would she ever be, someone who let a slight pass her by. With her head held high she walks the hallowed halls of Hogwarts - proud of being a lion, but also of the name gracing her, McKinnon. Pride haunts her and combined with words said over thoughts made there is no wonder why this young lady seemingly finds herself in the middle of the hurricane, they call a war, which is fastly approaching. Rancorous, Marlene never forget any ill word spoken about her, or her friends, and living by the theory of ‘don’t get mad - get even’ she is the one no one wants to anger. She holds herself with grace, even if arrogance shines through her movements, and with a laughter that can warm the coldest of hearts the spoiled McKinnon girl has a certain charm about her. Differing from most girls with her background of adoration.
But there is more to Marlene than the ability to stand up for one self. Through the castle her laughter can be heard as she surrounds herself with eager listeners to her adventures and with a social capability that astonishes many she manages to surround herself with people constantly. To call her popular would be precisely what she is, because even if Marlene can in many instances seem selfish it is true that she would stand up for her friends no matter what. Loyalty is a trait she values herself for having, and like many a lion she places her loyalty amongst her closest friends. Even if Marlene has has always been the center of attention with the spotlight shining upon her she knows who to trust and who not to. Those closest to her heart forever to remain, but as she steps upon her stage, what others call every day life, an actress comes alive. However, whilst asking in attention and constantly looking for a new challenge, a new adventure, Marlene becomes reckless and spontaneous. Acting only upon impulse without a thought on the consequences she may suffer from her behaviour, which is why Marlene can, in many instances, act quite selfish. With the courage of a lion flowing through her veins the McKinnon girl often forgets that there are more people concerned than herself, and as she rather sees other’s faults than her own Marlene can, at times, become quite difficult to remain close friends with.
Neither would Marlene ever let anyone best her in any competition or bet. A daring girl is she, and when a challenge is set before her the beautiful belle refuses to give up until she comes out the victor. In the corridors people whisper about her nerve whilst others lift their eyebrows in awe mixed disgust at her shenanigans. Never having had a hard day ever in her life one could say that Marlene is blind to the true danger of her own behaviour. The world she grew up seemingly always cheering her on, never telling her that she, in fact, is wrong in many instances. Instead Marlene hears that she is awe inspiring for her courage and enviable for her nerve. Perhaps that is why she never learns from her mistakes? For, Marlene will not back down, either in a discussion or during a challenge, and hence she would appreciate it if people could please get off her case. There are, after all, more important matters on her hand - like winning the House Cup and show those snarky Slytherins what a true Gryffindor is.
