Master list: #2016 hp/lv fic rec hub
As you can see, this is a listing of all the fics I have recommended so far. I did my best to omit those that were against the limits set by ghurahm (Underage and/or Rape) when recommending a fic in this hub, but there are many fics, so please forgive me if there is one that do not follow the guidelines. It will be up to the reader’s discretion to check the author’s warnings for things that are not your preference. I would also highly recommend looking through the author’s other works.
Use the hashtag (#hp/lv fic rec hub) to find the link and summary of each story. Refer to the part it is in (Part 1— Part __) to find it easier!

No Glory playlist found (thanks friend who sent it to me!!!) - and also made public so I believe you can add to it if y'all want!
It’s the digital drawing on your tumblr, which I would totally buy if it was a tangible painting :( I really love the themes of darkness and light, corruption and healing, apathy and empathy, etc.. similar to what you explore in your writing. To have a physical embodiment of that would be so special, especially from the very writer that brings it to life. Have you ever thought about creating an abstract piece embodying Tom/Voldemort & Harry? One that captures their magical signatures?
(2/2)I love the way that you capture those themes in the digital drawing of the doves. It makes me wonder what physical art you could create that embodies the complex relationship between Tom/Voldemort and Harry? It’s making me think about the magical signatures in No Glory and how that could translate to paper (or glass) with the human element of the individual it belongs to involved as well. You put so much detail and imagery in your stories, I wonder how else your vision of them could manifest
- FUNNY STORY, interesting that you should mention making art inspired by fanfiction... When I was still working on Hauntingly, I had a show in an art space (one of those little ones attached to a coffee shop, you know the type? nothing huge but cute) and so I actually made a series of 18″ x 24″ charcoal drawings that were, quite literally, representative of different scenes from that story. But they were all hands, so it was, you know, vague enough to be interpreted however you like (ah, art!). Like this one (Inspired by the idea of Voldemort wandering around Antarctica like a damn, sad fool) :
Or this one (pretty much any aggressive moment take your pick):
Or my personal favorite which is probably self-explanatory:
Soooo, I did 9? I think 9 drawings, and it was a really fun show because people would ask me questions and make their own comments like, ‘Oh, I see, it’s like a person’s story and struggles, the human condition, etc, etc.’ and I would nod but in the back of my mind be thinking ‘KIND OF BUT REALLY IT’S ABOUT HARRYMORT FANFICTION’, which I of course never uttered out loud but it was really fun to just... know. I even sold a few, lol.
anyway so yEAH I’ve made ‘art’ inspired by these fictional bitches and I’m sure I will again (I’m going to be moving soon so drawing may be all I’m able to do for a while... and write obvi), and I will eventually put a ‘drawing’ page back up on my site, I’ve just been lazy about transitioning the images from a slide show to a gallery design... I should really just... do it....... but yeah. I actually have a lot more experience with ‘physical’ charcoal drawing, I’m still just a wee baby when it comes to digital stuff. :3
Sorry of that was a weirdly long, rambling answer..... if/when I make more I’ll share it for sure!
Two job-hunting resources that changed my life:
This cover letter post on askamanger.com. A job interview guide written by Alison Green, who runs askamanager.
Shout-out to @ms-demeanor for putting these on my dash again, I’d like to add this exceptional interview question “answer guide” that explains traps and “the best” way to answer over 64 common questions. I don’t know who to attribute it to, but here it is: PDF from tri valley one-stop career center.
@ssironstrange sent me this gorgeous quote I tried to do it justice.
do you ever just want to go outside at night and walk around, without actually doing anything, just thinking, walking and stuff. just to clear your mind from everything else
because I do. all the time

For some reason I find this all the more amusing because it’s written in English

alienit: koska tääl on ihmisiä joitten mielestä englanti on ainoo kieli jota niitten täytyy puhua

Aku : kenapa kau hancurkan bumi!!! Alien : karena masih banyak orang berpikir hanya bahasa inggris satu-satunya bahasa yang terpenting Aku : oh, oke lah..
io: perchè state distruggendo la terra!!!
A modern Rosetta stone.
am·bro·sial
/ambrōZH(ē)əl/
adjective exceptionally pleasing to taste or smell; especially delicious or fragrant. worthy of the gods; divine.
Have you ever felt a potential love for someone?
Like, you don’t actually love them and you know you don’t, but you know you could. You realise that you could easily fall in love with them. It’s almost like the bud of a flower, ready to blossom but it’s just not quite there yet. And you like them a lot, you really do. You think about them often, but you don’t love them. You could, though. You know you could.
My god the accuracy of this statement
Often, you don’t let it open, at least not in a romantic sense. Instead, you watch it, tend to it, keeping it healthy and vibrant but never giving enough to let the petal splay apart in a grand visual because you’re scared of what you’ll find at its center- a sweet scent of newly found romanticism, or something pungent and bitter, ashy and desolate as you lose someone you care about because of it.
Instead, you sit there, on your tender precipice, hoping the tide will never turn to see your fate reveal.
It has just occured to me that in CMBYN is never, not once, said or written "I love you" - neither in the book nor in the film. And yet we are perfectly aware what is this all about.Wow.
10 times they said, ‘I love you’ without saying ‘I love you’
1. Call me by your name and I’ll call you by mine (book/film).
Let’s just rip the band aid off straight away shall we? Up until this point, I would say Elio and Oliver’s interactions could be passed off as desire and/or lust. Sure, they had an idea about how big this could get, but they couldn’t possibly know. This line changes everything. Call me by your name and I’ll call you by mine. I want to start with the fact Oliver is the one that says it. Oliver has been so reserved up until this point – playing off their first kiss like it was only to settle Elio’s childish needs when it was really him giving in to his deepest desire. By saying these words, he is binding their souls together. By saying these words he’s asking that they exist as one so that when they’re apart, it shouldn’t have to hurt, because Elio is Oliver and Oliver is Elio and they can never really be apart if they are the same.
‘What is life without this? Which was why, in the end, it was I, and not he, who blurted out, not once, but many, many times. You’ll kill me if you stop, you’ll kill me if you stop, because it was also my way of bringing full circle the dream and the fantasy, me and him, the longed-for words from his mouth to my mouth, back into his mouth, swapping words from mouth to mouth, which was when I must have begun using obscenities that he repeated after me, softly at first, till he said, ‘Call me by your name and I’ll call you by mine,’ which I’d never done in my life before and which, as soon as I said my own name as though it was his, took me to a realm never shared with anyone in my life before, or since.’
‘Took me to a realm never shared with anyone in my life before, or since.’ Imagine Elio was a real person for a second, and this book was a memoir, he’d have to have written it at least 20 years after these events took place in Summer ’83. This bitch literally said, ‘or since.’ It reminds me of when Elio tells Oliver about the fishing trip with Anchise, where Elio thought Oliver had died and where he goes onto say he would’ve ripped out Oliver’s heart ‘because that heart and his shirt were all I’d ever have to show for my life.’ If that doesn’t say ‘I love you’ in block capitals, underlined twice, then I don’t know what does.
