like: on one hand we have this teammate pairing that was famously destroyed by an intense championship battle to the point that one of them basically ruined themselves personally for the win and had to retire from the sport, and on the other hand we have the complete opposite dynamic of a really difficult championship battle that has left the teammates stronger than ever, working together beautifully, and seems to be the blueprint for what will be a long lasting successful team partnership despite their intense direct competition

but for real they're the best comparison and contrast bc brocedes represents the my only hate sprung from my only love most unique and most extreme of why two good friends going into a teammate relationship competing for race wins/championships is such a bad foundation. charlos are so intriguing bc both the deep friendship and the tumultuous competitive teammate relationship grew at the same time and even tho it's sad in a lot of ways it's ultimately been good for them to let the friendship grow without the competition.
but landoscar !! who had all the hallmarks and lore that should've meant they were friends long before teammates - Oscar's obsession, RFM, Max F, Zhou, DannyRic(Renault and McLaren) - but fate kept apart bc they both agreed on one thing early on - and that was to foster trust and security in each other as teammates FIRST. that the social time together could easily happen any time but that the place where they bonded the most was in the careers they've pursued their whole lives. that they'd accommodate and fit to each other so well that there's really no such thing as spending too much time together at work and that even their trainers and teams aren't fully in on the world they've built together. @mecachrome writes so well about the romanze of the "workplace" when the workplace is most of your life and the thing you've both longed for is a sense of belonging and security and you've found it in each other <3
