You voted, and we have decided that this event will stay open until 100 works is reached! Closer to that goal being achieved, however long that may take, another poll will roll out to decide whether we'd like to extend the goal further, but that all comes later. For now, let's get this show on the road!! (Plaintext links below the cut for whoever may need them)

We all have our guys we like to toss into the oven and bake to a crisp. We mix them up however we want, and throw in some variables for additional flavour. Unfortunately, sometimes not everyone gets your vision. Sometimes you’re the sole warrior of a nation made up of you and your three mutuals. Worry not, this event is here to save you!
With the help of MCYT Rarepair Exchange, you can beam your most exotic of pairings straight into unsuspecting people’s heads. Beware though, the same fate will likely befall you!

TAG NOMINATION RULES
Each person can nominate up to 20 relationship tags, both platonic “&” and romantic “/“ from any MCYT fandom. Tags with more than 2 people are allowed and encouraged.
For large fandoms (5k+ works on Ao3 as of Dec. 2024) your tag must have no more than 30 works with your tag included.
For small fandoms (-5k works in Ao3 as of Dec. 2024) your tag must have no more than 50 works with your tag included.
If your fandom has 200 or fewer works, mods will hear cases pleaded for any relationship tag that isn't the most popular/often used to be taken into consideration.
If your rarepair doesn’t exactly match the criteria but you believe it fits the spirit of the event, there is space in the nomination form for you to convince us why we should allow your tag into the tagset!
Event runners/moderators reserve the right to disqualify or allow any submissions that may not fit the criteria flawlessly. We will do our best to judge fairly without letting "popular"/"big" ships take priority in this event.
Adult/minor romantic relationships are not allowed in the event. Age of the character will be decided by age of the creator portraying the character during the majority of the SMP/series’ run. Mods reserve the right to disqualify any tag that they believe to be in violation of this rule.
Minor/minor romantic relationships are allowed with the exception of characters considered to be extremely underage (ex. Yoghurt (DSMP) or QSMP eggs).
Further instructions regarding the nomination process are included in the form.
SIGN UP RULES
As per Tumblr, Ao3 and Discord TOS, you must be 13+ to participate.
Each participant must join the Discord server for ease of communication. If we cannot find you on Discord by the time the sign up period ends, your sign up will be deleted.
An Ao3 account is required to participate. [Here] is an instruction on how to make one if you don’t have one yet.
You must request and offer at least [5] relationship tags across at least [2] fandoms. You can request/offer up to 10 fandoms with 20 relationship tags per request/offer, for up to 200 possible tags total. Plenty of room!
You must either include your DNW (Do Not Wants) or state ‘DNW: N/A’ in each request box.
You must include at least one like (setting/AU/trope) or prompt in each request box.
You must include your Tumblr url in each request so your gifter knows who to address your gift to.
Please make sure the email attached to your account is one you check regularly, and one you are comfortable to share with the mods, as due to how Ao3 exchange system works, the mods will be able to see it.
If you are 18+, you may sign up for creating and/or receiving NSFW works. If someone under age 18 is found out to have signed up requesting or offering NSFW content, they will be kicked from this event and any upcoming ones.
You cannot sign up solely for creating/receiving NSFW works. You must include at least 1 SFW offer and request in your sign up.
NSFW and SFW offers/requests must be done in separate boxes. Example:
Request 1: GeminiTay/Smallishbeans (Life Series) - SFW request
Request 2: GeminiTay/Smallishbeans (Life Series) - NSFW request
CREATION RULES
Your gift must focus on at least one of the requested relationships.
Unless your giftee explicitly requests otherwise, your gift may include non-requested relationships to make smaller appearances without overriding the requested tags.
You do not have to create a work for the ship you matched on with your giftee - if one of their other requests speaks to you, go for it!
Likewise, you do not have to create an NSFW work if you matched on an NSFW request/offer.
You must abide by your giftee’s DNW no matter what.
No AI created content is allowed.
POSTING
Your gift, meeting the requirements, must be posted to both Ao3 and Tumblr.
When posting to Tumblr, you must tag both your recipient and the event blog.
Dark, violent, or generally considered triggering topics must be tagged appropriately.
FAQ
What if my rarepair doesn’t have an Ao3 tag?
Well, it’s time for it to get one! Feel free to request pairings without an official tag.
Is RPF allowed?
This event will not be banning RPF works or tags, and will allow it as a fandom able to be nominated from. The nominations must still abide by the rules for other fandoms in this exchange. If you are unsure if your tag qualifies, please mention as such in the "plead your case" section of the form or send us an ask for clarification.
Are crossovers allowed?
Crossovers are allowed as long as all tagged characters are from MCYT related fandoms! When nominating a crossover tag please specify which fandoms they are from. Example:
Joel | Smallishbeans (RPF) & Smallishbeans (Life Series) & Smallishbeans (Hermitcraft) (Crossover Fandom)
Considering the difficulty of deciding by which criteria the different fandoms should be judged, the mods reserve the right of disqualifying crossover nominations if we decide the pair is not considered rare.
Are Major Archive Warnings allowed?
When signing up you can opt in into receiving/creating works including Main Character Death and Graphic Descriptions of Violence. No other Major Warnings are allowed.
What does NSFW include?
On-screen sexual content or detailed elements of gore (anything that would require a rating higher than PG-13; anything you wouldn't feel comfortable showing to a 13 year old). NSFW is not allowed regarding characters that are considered minors.
What if I can’t finish on time?
If you figure out you can’t finish your assignment on time, please contact event moderators as soon as possible! Depending on whether you just need a day or two more, or are completely unable to have your gift ready by the deadline, we will either give you an extension or send your assignment to Pinch Hits.
Can I create more than one gift?
Of course! You’re only required to make one, but you can create as many gifts as you like. If you really want to make more than one gift, we suggest signing up for the Pinch Hitter role in Discord, or browsing requests in preparation for the treating week!
If you have any other questions or concerns, send us an ask!
Hi could you explain what a kink meme even is? I'm curious how to participate and the whole theme of the event
Hi there! So a kinkmeme is a bit of an older fandom event where participants (usually anonymously, but not always) leave prompts or ideas, and then other participants (also usually anonymously, but not always) can write/draw/etc something based on that prompt!
So for example someone could prompt "Two characters stargazing", and someone else would "claim" the prompt (which you do by pressing the claim button in the collection) and create something to go with that prompt! Prompts can be vague ideas like the example I just gave, or more specific, it's all up to you! Our event is not inherently anonymous, but there are still options available for those who want to participate in this event completely anonymously if that's what you'd prefer!
This event doesn't necessarily follow a "theme", unless you'd consider the theme to be RPF (real person fiction), which is what this event is for. There are other kinkmemes out there with various other themes, if this particular one doesn't seem up your alley, just look around for them!
hey claims of prompts aren't anonymous in the ao3 collection I think? I can see the username of the person who's claimed a prompt so far
That's a downside of having the collection itself not be anonymous in nature (at the request of a few current participants). Prompts can be filled out anonymously, but will show up under your username as being claimed. You can still post them anonymously, which I believe will remove your name, though!
One method I may attempt at a later point (considering I've never participated in a kinkmeme that wasn't anonymous by default so I too am learning as I go) is to fill a prompt in an outside draft and claim it last second before posting anonymously, and once it's posted removing the prompt from my list of claims.
like fr serious question why cant it just stay open like forever
Hm, some serious answers:
-Mod team has and can have other life commitments
-We don't want to
-Surprisingly, anon, you can still posts works without needing an event! Who would've thought!
-If the event stays open forever, isn't it the same thing as no event happening? Don't you want the hype of an event? The excitement? The community? Sure, it could stay open forever but the novelty will wear off, and how boring would that be
-And last, but not least:
How about just setting a concrete date as the deadline like the dead dove kinkmeme did? I feel that setting a work limit will encourage rushing shorter works so you can be sure to get them in before everyone else does so you still have a chance to post for the event, rather than working on things until you're satisfied and just posting whenever you finish as long as you're still within the given time limit. I think a work number-based limit would make this a lot less fun for me - events like this should be a community celebration/fest of the topic we're all coming together to write about, imo, not a race to be the fastest writer. Speaking from experience - sometimes you're just a slower writer than others, and if you don't have time to get your work in because someone else was having fun churning out a ton of drabbles, that would not positively impact the experience of an event like this for me.
(I know 100 works is a lot so in theory you'd have plenty of time anyway, but I still think that knowing that limit exists and having to panic about "oh no, there's already x works in the collection, I have to hurry up so I can still get my fic in" feels a lot more negative and stressful than "wow, there's already x works in the collection! look at how productive we all are!", y'know?)
Hi there! So the current goal would be to hit 100 works (which may take months, so you potentially have some time to get something in!!), and once that goal is closer a poll will go out asking whether the event will gain a new goal of 150 or whether it is coming to a close. If the vote wins to close, you will be given an additional 30 days to submit anything after the 100 fic goal is met. If this event shows to be popular, we'll also be opening it up again at a later (currently undetermined) date!
This event was designed with a fic goal rather than a deadline because many of us fic writers struggle with deadline paralysis ("oh I have plenty of time" that turns into "OH NO THERE'S THREE DAYS LEFT") and that's what we aimed to negate here by getting rid of the traditional date deadline goal! If this kind of event isn't for you, we completely understand, and wish you the best! This was never intended to be a race to be the fastest writer (I myself would be a bit bummed if people were prioritizing a quick fic to bump up the total count over writing something they can be proud of), but rather a way for people who struggle to write under timed circumstances to be given the opportunity to engage in an event without worrying that they might not be the fastest writer out there.
Hope this answer was alright and covered your bases!
hi there! two questions: is there going to be a list of prompts coming out soon that we'll be able to follow/choose from? and i saw part of the discord intro was an option to list yourself as a minor, does that mean the event is no longer 18+?
Hi! Two answers:
This event is a Kinkmeme challenge, therefore there is no set 'list'. However, there are prompts created by the participants (or anyone with an Ao3 account!). Anyone can claim any prompt, and multiple people can claim the same one.
The list can be found here: Prompt List
To submit a prompt, you just follow the instructions found under the prompt list (on the 'Prompt Form' section).
And the next answer, the event was never meant as a 18+ only event. You can have SFW RPF works if you want, whereas a prompt or fulfilling a prompt yourself. However, if you join the Discord, you will have to request a specific role to access NSFW channels.
You voted (yes I realise I'm a bit early but nothing is beating a 50%+ landslide with just 2 days left), and you guys decided we should have a kinkmeme/promptmeme!! Very exciting, very exciting (also means we don't have to change the blog name, so that's a plus haha)
Now there's only one thing left to decide, and that's the end goal for this event! Since this event won't operate with a set date deadline, instead there will be a certain goal that decides when the event will close. Below is a poll for you to vote for what you think the best milestone to hit/reach would be, and an (anon-friendly) Ao3 collection will open as soon as the poll ends to officially start the event!
When Should The Event/Collection Close?
when we reach 100 fics
when we reach 150 fics
when one pairing reaches 50 fics
when two pairings reach 50 fics
when the next life series season comes out
something else/i'm bald/nuance (say in tags, comments, or an ask)

*you can post things other than fics to the collection like fanart or webweaves and such, fics are just likely going to be the most common thing seen!
This poll is shorter so we can open the event sooner, so vote while you can!! (And we can always re-negotiate the end goal later if the chosen goal is met and people want to keep going)
Hi, I'm super down for this event! For my part I wanna argue that I definitely find prompt meme the best option, as I personally find it difficult to create for week/month events, and creating for a specific person's prompt is much more compelling to me, plus a prompt meme enables you to create a larger variety of things than just one specific gift. Also, prompt memes feel easier to keep anonymous than a gift exchange would be. Just my thoughts though. I'm excited for the event regardless of which option ends up chosen! ^_^
Hi! Thanks for the feedback, we love to hear it! Those are all good points, honestly, and why we decided to make it an option for this event in the first place! I'll post this to the blog as propaganda for promptmemes to help your cause, haha!!
Fans of Video Blogging RPF/MCYT RPF, rejoice! Our little team is getting ready to make a brand new event, but we need input from you (the potential participants)! Below is a poll listing different options for what type of event we could hold, and after results come in from that we'll put out another poll to decide when this event will be starting (so keep your eyes peeled here)! Below the cut I'll attempt to explain the differences between the types of events you can choose from in case you aren't informed on them. Also as a note, all of these options will be ANON-FRIENDLY, so don't let your worry of being outed as an RPF fan stop you from joining! Thanks for the feedback!!

What flavor of RPF do y'all wanna see?
kinkmeme/promptmeme
gift exchange
event week/month
special occasion events

kinkmeme/promptmeme: explained better here, but essentially a kinkmeme/promptmeme would mean rather that a hard schedule/deadline, we would have a selected goal and the event/collection would stay open until that goal is met! For example, we could decide to open the event until we reach 100 works/fics in the collection, so you could be writing for as long as you need/want until that goal is met and the event would close!
gift exchange: depending on user decision, we would either send out a google form for you to fill out in order to sign up, or you could sign up anonymously through Ao3, where you will be matched with someone with similar taste to you for you to make them an RPF based gift!
event week/month: like your standard ship/character focused events, but more broad to allow fans of any type of RPF to join in! We would decide on some generic prompts and you would be given certain days to create content based on any kind of RPF you enjoy!
special occassion events: this one takes inspiration from the Hockey RPF fandom's tradition of Gay Porn Hard during the playoffs, this first event may be themed around the next season of the Life Series, where the event will be open to RPF works being made until the next season drops as a way to hype up the fandom (your RPF would not have to be about people involved in the Life Series for you to participate, as if this option wins we may do other events like this themed around other fandoms in MCYT such as one about November 16th for DSMP where the goal would be to write 16 fics/draw 16 fanart in the month of November, or something of that nature - but we can cross that bridge if we come to it)
Note that this event will likely be 18+, but both SFW or NSFW creations will be allowed, so if smut isn't your thing, fret not!
This event also operates under DL:DR/KINKTOMATO (dont like: dont read/your kink is not my kink and thats okay), so if you see a pairing you don't like or see people portrayed in ways you find uncomfortable, it is YOUR responsibility to distance yourself from it. As such, this event will NOT tolerate anyone bringing this to the attention of any involved content creators/streamers. If they happen to find it organically, that's one thing, but we will NOT tolerate anyone purposefully showing this to them.
