Somewhat- Iori didn’t want to take that chance at all to know the plenty of shortcuts. She’d rather just take the way instead. When he had told her what his age was, it sort of surprised him.
“A cute fourteen year old at that too–” only just a simple and harmless compliment. And she would reply with her own age as well. “I’m nineteen.”
That’s five years difference between the two- that wasn’t too bad.
“You’re right, they could be like ours or quite different.” She really didn’t know at all, “I think it would be great to duel against one.”
Her head quickly turned to stare at him, noticing that uniform he had on. She remembered also going to Heartland Academy when she was younger. “So what kind of deck do you have, Rei? Are you any good at dueling?”
She asked, wanting to get to know him more. “As for me, I have a vampire deck. I’m pretty good but I haven’t participated in many tournaments like I used to.”
Cute? That was how she decided to describe him? On the outside, he only responded with a smile at the compliment, though on the inside he wondered what exactly was cute about “Rei Shingetsu.”
“A duel with aliens could be really interesting and fun! Well, as long as their dueling is like ours. It’d be a little difficult to understand if they dueled really differently.”
When questioned about the deck he used, he rubbed the back of his neck with an awkward smile. “I use a Shining deck, but I’m not all that good at dueling. I can never figure out what strategy to use.” Oh the many times he had to lose a duel on purpose to keep in character... It was sometimes cringe-worthy, even for himself, and he was the one doing it!
“You used to participate in tournaments?” Rei asked, his interest seemingly sparked. “Why don’t you anymore? Did you win a lot of duels? How many did you win?” He let his questions flow out, curiosity taking over.
{ ⏅ } [it’s gorgeous and Bill is infatuated with the death and destruction but hey, he’s not picking favorites. After all if he can’t pick out of all of his children (the seven sins) why would he pick a human? Bill simply grins in response as he leans a bit to look the soul of the mind he … slipped in.]
{ ⏅ } “Pity, OTHERS didn’t CARE. NAME’S BILL CIPHER. I see that YOU’RE a bit of… A MESS. I DO ENJOY THOSE WHO MAKE MESSES. Hate cleaning up IF YOU ASK ME, THE WORLD IS BETTER AS A MESS. Now who do I have the AUDACITY to MEET?”
Part of him wanted to laugh at being called a “mess.” He probably would have if he wasn’t trying to be serious right now, but damn, it was boring to be serious. A mess is not the word he’d use to describe himself, but the broken up, destroyed world in his mind, that was certainly a mess. A beautiful one he planned to make reality one day. Besides that... should he even introduce himself to this Bill guy? Perhaps he should, maybe he would prove to be good temporary entertainment.
“Vector... my name is Vector.” He stated with his arms crossed over his chest. “Here’s another question for you, Bill. If this is my mind, how are you here?”
meaningwell
{ ⏅ } “What new mind, such… chaos and to whom I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF! Ahhh, what a nice concept… this world, this area. What a sweet sweet mind you have there, I hope you don’t mind me making myself home for a bit!”
What was going on? No, that isn’t what he should be wondering about. Instead, he should be wondering about something more important: who was this guy? And why was he in his mind? This was apparently his mind, right? The scenery around them confirmed it plenty, the destruction he enjoyed seeing and imagining was there, and that was enough. So, the question was, how and why?
“Actually, I do mind. Who the hell are you?”

Since introductions were over and done with, she had nodded her head. “Sure, hope ya know where it is.”
She laughed, Iori knew where it was– she did like strolling through the park once in a while.
“I hope I don’t offend you for asking this Rei but, how old are you?” He did look pretty short- so she did have a feeling that he was much younger than her. She didn’t mind telling him her own age, even if it was rude to ask a woman that.
Looking down at the book and opened the first page while walking, only looking at the first sentence, considering it was quite heavy for her arms to hold. “The first sentence says that there are aliens who can duel just as good as we can. Seems cool but strange.”
Her words said to herself but also aimed towards him as well, what would Rei think about it?
“I not only know where it is, I know plenty of shortcuts to get there!” Not that they were safe, or even remotely a good idea. And they may not even lead to the park...
Instead of insisting on taking one of his shortcuts, he started to follow after her. He already dragged Yuma around today, and as amusing as it was, he found playing around like this more so. At least he didn’t have to worry as much about his act slipping with her.
“It doesn’t offend me at all. I’m fourteen.” He stated with a smile before asking, “How old are you?” He asked in return, even if it could be seen as rude.
He noticed her open the book while they were walking and peeked at the page the best he could from where he was walking.
When he heard her mention that sentence, he almost laughed, but he held it in. That book even mentioned dueling in it? Well, it wasn’t completely wrong. They were better than humans. Instead of laughing like he wanted to, he paused to think about it.
“It is strange, but I wonder what their dueling would be like... Would it be the same as ours, or very different?”

She only had realized when he had said “a stranger to you.” They didn’t really know each other’s names and Iori only ended up laughing. "I haven't introduced myself, how rude of me. I’m Iori, and you are?"
She had thought about where she could go and read with him, although she had already figured that he was younger than her, that didn't bother her at all.
"How about the park! They have a few tables and shelter that we could read it in, rather than the library where it's crowded sometimes and people talk.” Plus, she prefered outdoors anyway.
He let out a small, slightly exaggerated, joking gasp at the fact that they hadn’t yet learned each other’s names, smile quickly returning after. He was wondering when they’d actually introduce themselves to each other.
“I should have thought of introducing myself first, I guess I’m also rude.” A quiet laugh, then right back to his previous expression. “I’m Rei. Nice to meet you Iori!” He said oh so cheerfully.
“The park sounds great! It will be much easier to read in peace there.” It would also be easier to play the role of Rei at the park, he wouldn’t have to focus on keeping quiet. “Should we go now?”

❝ Gems. I doubt you’d be able to understand beyond that.. ❞
His smile made her want to continue this little conversation. This exchange of information. Jasper returned her own smile, golden eyes gleaming.
❝ To answer the question you are probably thinking, because I know I would…. Humans radiate a dull, boring aura. Gems? You can tell a Gem from a human…. or whatever you are. You radiate negativity. Malice, aggression. You reek of battle. ❞
;; iaspis
“Never heard of a species called Gems before. As for what I am, I’ll admit, I’m not human, I’m a Barian, though I’m sure you’d know nothing about Barians.”
There was no harm in mentioning his species, after all, a species unrelated to the Astrals would most likely know nothing about them. Besides, it could open the way to more interesting conversation.
Vector couldn’t help but let out a small laugh at the description. All of that sounded right to him, none of that was wrong, and that was what made it so amusing to him.
“I have to say, your description of my aura fits. Humans are boring creatures, no wonder you could tell the difference.”

❝ You don’t feel human. ❞
It wasn’t a confirmation but it wasn’t a denial either. So she chose to approach with caution, taking a step toward the smaller being.
❝ Your aura is… off. Its not the same aura that humans seem to have. It’s the same kind of aura that warriors of my kind have. ❞
;; iaspis
So she was going by his aura? What kind of aura did humans have to her? Apparently not one that fit his.
She took a step toward him, and he didn’t move from where he was standing. His arms crossed over his chest, wearing a small smile that showed his slight interest.
“Your kind? What is your kind?”
At least that confirmed she wasn’t human, but now he was curious about what she was.
sowilled:
It was pretty rare if she was going to meet someone that had the same interests as her. Majority of the time she just didn’t exactly have anyone to hang out with or even someone to call a friend- sure it got her a bit lonely but that didn’t bother her at all. She prefered to read books anyway.
“Well they have– but I don’t even know who any of them are, it would be nice to meet some of these people.” However it was a big place, so many people in Heartland City- so it wasn’t like she could exactly find out who these people were.
“We can always go back to the library if you want to share, or just go to the park. It doesn’t bother me.” Saying this to a complete stranger and one much younger than her as well probably seemed strange.
She didn’t mind sharing the book she had been waiting for with a stranger she didn’t even know the name of? Maybe he should take the offer, perhaps even take the chance to talk with her about aliens to hear her opinions. The more he learned, the more he could use against her later, the more amusing it would be.
He still had decide how exactly he would make it amusing, but this would hopefully prove to be an entertaining way to kill some time.
“Whichever works for you! The library or the park, which is best for you? I’m not going anywhere important, so anywhere works for me! As long as you don’t mind sharing with me, even though I’m a stranger to you.”

❝ You aren’t human… are you? ❞
It was an assumption, yes. But she could sense that something was off. That this wasn’t a human that she was talking to. He radiated an ancient energy, one that resonated with herself. It was the aura of battle- the energy that one exuded after they had been through war… And if this stranger was a warrior, then he could be an enemy of the Gems, but she didn’t want to assume until she had gotten a better hold of the situation.
;; iaspis
Well, now this was a surprise. Vector wasn’t expecting anyone to consider the possibility that he wasn’t a human while he was in this form. Of course, he was sure she wasn’t human herself. Humans didn’t normally have a gem on their face where a nose would usually be. For now, he decided not to outright admit he wasn’t human. Though he wasn’t going to completely deny it either. What fun would there be in denying it?
“Why would you ask that? Don’t I appear human?”
