and he is very clearly dead—skin already losing its color, a gaping wound stretching down the expanse of his chest and midriff. his bones are exposed, and there’s no way he’s alive. but z-team is begging you to do something.

you’re so focused on the job, on trying to stitch up his wounds, if not to heal him than to prepare his body, you don’t realize how the lights flicker. the air hums with something darker, and light flickers between your hands.

robert is sitting up with a strangled gasp, eyes shooting open. you stumble back, hand reaching for your scalpel. he was dead, and now he’s sitting bolt upright in bed. as you watch in horror, the wound on his chest stitches itself back together, an invisible force healing him before your eyes.
