âKayt?â Ash grinned at his friend, âI heard strange things happen on Halloween, but I wouldnât have expected it be you being social!â He joked, âitâs good to see you turn,â he continued, as he returned her hug. Ash hadnât realised how much heâd missed her till her saw her again. Â That was kind of a lie, whenever he had to get things sorted on the boat it hadnât felt right to not be able to take it to her. There were even a couple of times when heâd almost called for a second opinion on the quotes heâd been given for new parts. Â
âYour costume looks great, Cat Woman right? Or some kind of cat theme?â He tilted his head, âunless itâs a rat?  Not that your costume looks rat like,â Ash hurriedly continued on, âIâm just a bad guesserâŠ. anyway,â he rubbed the back of his neck self-consciously looking down at himself. âYeah, Iâm Elvis, I lost a bet with my brother.  Not that I had a better costume in mind; my original plan was to wear a tux and tell everyone I was acting my age for Halloween.â He nudged her playfully,  âthough I donât think anyone wouldâve believed that.â  Â
He fiddled with the wig, trying to adjust it without the use of a mirror, âif it makes you feel better, I didnât really tell anyone Iâd be back, I wasnât sure how long Iâd be in town for and didnât want it to be full of goodbyes,â he said giving Kayt his best puppy eyes to try and stop her being annoyed. âI was planning to come by your place and drop off a gift though.â He took a tray of canapes from a passing by waiter, leaving him empty handed. âHave you tried these?â Ash offered the tray to Kayt, âtheyâre amazing.âÂ
âOi, I can be social! Itâs a good thing I didnât miss out, because I wouldnâtâve seen you!â She smiled, looked him over, as if she had to make sure he was okay. Sheâd become such a worrywart. âMan, itâs good to see you. Feels like itâs been forever. Harpoole wasnât the same after you left.â She wasnât the same either. She wasnât going to go into details when everyone was having so much fun, but life had changed a lot since he left. Hell, she practically had a kid with Farren and Ella combined.Â
âEh, just a cat. I hate cats, really, but my brother loves them, and I guess I was feeling nostalgic.â She paused, âAnd it was one of the last ones left at the shop.â She tweaked one of the cat ears, smiling at Ash. âI guess itâs not too bad- not as bad as your guessing.â She laughed, teasing him gently. âNo worries, though, I like rats.â She looked at him again, âEh, I think Elvis suits you. You look good in the outfit.â She commented. âAnd I wouldnât have, thatâs for sure.âÂ
âOh suuuure you were planning on stopping by,â she laughed. âI kid, Iâm sure you would have. I appreciate it. No gifts though, I donât do getting gifts.â She added quickly, not wanting to be surprised. âUh, no, what is it?â She asked, looking over it. Kayt didnât really do eating, and especially something she wasnât sure what it was. They almost looked to fancy to eat which worried the blonde.Â
