The home you once knew doesn’t exist anymore.

My very honest attempt at recreating Olek’s childhood home in New Orleans towards the tail end of his time living there. It would’ve been around the mid 90’s, 1996 maybe. That year he moved to New York City. When he was around two years old, Olek moved to New Orleans where for the next 3 years he’d live with his father in the Florida Projects before moving to Mid-City. They lived with two roommates, Azaire Aucoin and his younger sister Fleurdelys as the house was previously owned by their aunt. It was a cramped home with little space to spare, peeling wallpaper and water damage, and left much to be desired. Unfortunately it was as good as they could get, even with shared rent and with no other option Olek learned to cope with his circumstances. Due to previous damage the house was left unsalvageable following Hurricane Katrina and was demolished.
