The war is over; now comes the reconstruction. Slowly—actually very slowly and unsurely to boot—Gaza is starting the task of rebuilding its devastated homes and stores and schools after the summer war with Israel. But as winter approaches, and despite billions of dollars in donations and a great deal of international good will, unresolved political and regional issues are dimming any hope that there will be a quick return to normal life in the Strip.
Everyone wants Gaza to be rebuilt before winter sets in. But bombings and bickering keep getting in the way.

Smoggy Summit?
The Beijing National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest, one of the venues for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, stands illuminated at night in Beijing, China.
Beijing may be hit by smoggy weather as world leaders gather in China’s capital for the APEC summit, even as the government pushes for blue skies by shutting power plants and banning street-side barbecues.
From Nov. 8-11, the city and surrounding areas will experience slight to moderate smog because of unfavorable conditions for pollutants to disperse, Wang Zhihua, a spokesman for the China Meteorological Administration said in comments posted on the agency’s website.
To cut pollution for the forum, the government has sought to limit cars on the roads and restrict industrial production. Heads of state including U.S. President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are scheduled to attend a leadership summit Nov. 10-11.

For years, I’ve been open with many people about my sexual orientation. Plenty of colleagues at Apple know I’m gay, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference in the way they treat me. Of course, I’ve had the good fortune to work at a company that loves creativity and innovation and knows it can only flourish when you embrace people’s differences. Not everyone is so lucky.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29829763
