say, if i just finished barda and orion and had only the most basic fourth world knowledge where would i go from there? i think i've heard about mister miracle and new gods runs from the early 70s? are there reading lists to follow?
Jack Kirby's Fourth World consists of four runs, before culminating in a final issue:
Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #133 - 148 by Jack Kirby
The Forever People by Jack Kirby
New Gods by Jack Kirby
Mister Miracle by Jack Kirby
DC Graphic Novel #4: The Hunger Dogs by Jack Kirby
These weave in and out of each other, but can be enjoyed standalone. if you need an exact issue order to get the context, here's a list of issues in order.
From here on out, the world is your oyster. Because they're C-listers, not much happens to them, and everyone just kind of does their own thing when in charge.
RUNS WORTH READING:
Orion by Walt Simonson
Cosmic Odyssey by Jim Starlin and Mike Mignola
New Gods by Ram V and Evan Cagle
Mister Miracle: The Great Escape by Varian Johnson and Daniel Isles
Mister Miracle: The Source of Freedom by Brandon Easton and Fico Ossio
STORIES AND RUNS TO AVOID:
Mister Miracle by Tom King and Mitch Gerads
Infinity-Man and the Forever People by Dan DiDio and Keith Giffen
Literally anything John Byrne wrote for the Fourth World
Settler-colonialism is definitionally genocidal. There is no satisfying the settler state, because their desire is to control everything and therefore any autonomous life is inherently and always a threat, just for being alive. There is no end to the expansion of the genocidal project. It will continue until it is defeated.
They bomb places of education, community, and faith. They assassinate journalists and artists and educators. They destroy sources of food, water, medicine, and shelter. They displace people further and further. They ruin the ecosystem. The more they destroy, the more afraid they become.
This is why Israelis target frightened children and disabled people and starving elders. This is why they have created conditions wherein 40,000 babies are now suffering from malnutrition. This is why Israelis destroy septic lines and hospitals. This is why settler states all over the world send Israel weapons and resources. This is why private contractors in the United States send mercenaries to massacre people at aid sites. This is why Netanyahu seeks to invade and occupy Gaza, to force greater and greater numbers of people into displacement or massacre.
The genocidal project is threatened by life itself.
The fight against this project requires many things. It requires blocking the flow of capital and weapons to Israel. It requires organized defense. It requires sustaining Palestinian life by any means possible.
My friend Mahrah (@mahrahpalestine) and her brother Mahmoud (@palestinian95) have been raising funds for some time on Chuffed, but many people prefer to donate to GoFundMe campaigns. Because of this, the Balousha family is shifting fundraising to this platform.
My wife @cannilyuncanny is personally hosting this new GoFundMe campaign, and will be transferring any donated funds directly to Mahrah's bank account every week to ensure her family has money for food, medicine, and other essential supplies.

Mahrah, Mahmoud, myself, and my wife are in a group chat together on signal where we are coordinating this. I promise you that this is a secure and reliable way to offer immediate relief to this family.
Her family's fundraising has been vetted by 90-ghost and shared by fairuzfan. I am tagging @gazavetters and @90-ghost here also in the hopes that her new campaign is shared.
Please do not ignore this. I want to remind you that our family depends on your generosity and donations, to buy food, drink and the necessities of normal life.
A kilogram of flour in Gaza costs more than 100 shekels, equivalent to $30, and is unavailable. A 25-kilogram bag of flour costs more than $1,200, and with a 50% commission, the price of a bag of flour becomes $2,400.
My friend Mosab's daughter, Lama, has been injured in a bombing in Gaza and is in need of donations to help save her life.
His family doesn't have money for food and his wife even collapsed from hunger and his daughter regularly cry to him for food.
Please please help this family meet their basic needs so they can escape this genocide. They have survived through hell the past nearly 2 years. Please don't let them die now just because of hunger.

The difference between Gaza and Auschwitz is that the world still has a chance to stop the ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Whatโs happening here is not just a warโitโs a deliberate effort to starve an entire population. We are not only dying from bombs, but from hunger, thirst, and despair. Life is being stolen from the mouths of our children every single day.
The siege surrounds us from all directions. Food and medicine are blocked. The crossings have been closed for months. What little aid enters is barely enough for 1% of the population. Imagine paying $40 for a single kilo of flour, or needing over $300 to feed a small family for just one day. With no jobs, no open markets, and no safetyโhow are we supposed to survive?
Today, a beautiful cat and her kittens died from hunger. They were innocent, fragile livesโand they perished simply because there was nothing left to eat. What kind of injustice allows even the weakest, most defenseless creatures to suffer this way? This is the reality we live with every single day.
Please, donโt turn away. Your support, no matter how small, can be the reason someone wakes up tomorrow with food, with hope, with life. A single donation can mean survival for a family, for a child, for a soul still holding on. In Gaza, even the smallest act of kindness can save a life.
I appeal to you with all my pain and suffering. We are living in difficult conditions as a result of the war in Gaza. Our homes have been destroyed and our dreams have been shattered. We are stuck in Egypt after my wife and I lost our jobs. My family lives in constant fear. My brothers, mother, and father also live in Gaza. These catastrophic conditions are the result of bombing and genocide. They are facing an endless nightmare, and I need your help. Please help us by donating or sharing this post to protect my family and restore hope to our hearts.
Trans men who live in countries where medical transition is covered by the government will take every opportunity to talk about how good they have it to trans men who live in countries where we have to fund our own transition.
โOh you want to kill yourself because you canโt afford to get top surgery? And you want to make a joke post about it? You want to make a joke post about how you donโt see characters like you ever? Donโt you know your experiences arenโt universal? In my country I was able to fully medically transition and now I pass as cis!โ
This is my little boy, Qais, only two years old, wounded and in pain. He was hurt while simply playing near our tent โ his childhood stolen by a war he never chose. Every day is a fight to keep him alive, to find medicine, food, and clean water in Gaza, where survival feels like a miracle. Iโm pleading with you from the bottom of a motherโs breaking heart: help us. Your kindness could mean the difference between life and death for my son.
Three Causes of His Injury and the Danger for Children:
1. Unstable living conditions โ Children play among rubble, broken glass, and sharp debris because there is nowhere safe for them.
2. Lack of medical care โ Injuries, even small ones, become life-threatening because hospitals are overwhelmed, and medicine is scarce.
3. Constant fear and trauma โ Kids like Qais live under constant stress, making them vulnerable to accidents, infections, and slow healing.
These are not just dangers; they are death sentences for Gazaโs children. What should be minor injuries can turn fatal without urgent treatment.
I am an oppressed mother in Gaza, helplessly watching my baby suffer, knowing his wound could kill him if I cannot get proper medical care. His little eye, once full of light, is now bandaged and hurting, and I fear every day that I might lose him. Please โ I am begging you with every ounce of love in my heart โ donโt ignore this. Share his story. Donate if you can. Even the smallest act of kindness can keep my son alive and give him the chance to smile again.
PLEASE DONATE HERE
If Qais was your only child, would you leave him to face his fate alone?
DONATE HERE PLEASE
DON'T SKIP, I BEG YOUโ๐จ you're the only hope to save a child๐๐ญ
It is with a broken heart that we have to share the worst news imaginable with the NGU community. This weekend, the IOF bombed the neighborhood of Yahya Al-Habil and his family. Little Omar, Yahyaโs 7-year-old brother who we have mentioned often, was martyred.
Both Yahya and his brother Mohammed are being treated in different departments for the severe injuries they sustained from this attack, and did not get the chance to say goodbye to Omar. They now urgently need $5,000 usd to continue treatment and hopefully stabilize their critical conditions.
Please share their story and donate anything you can to their campaign- this family cannot handle another loss.
Current: $956 out of $5,931 usd
Need to raise: $4,975 usd

I can vouch personally for the validity of this campaign, as well as GazaVetters (#6 on the list). They urgently, URGENTLY need your donation.ย
If you are unable to donate, at least reblog and spread it so it may reach people who can afford to. Any inconvenience these might cause you is nothing compared to what Ghada and her family are going through. My friendโs family could die tomorrow. They could be dying right now. Every moment Iโm not speaking to Ghada, thereโs a possibility that sheโs already gone. So when I ask you to reblog this, Iโm asking you to understand how little effort it takes to potentially aid in some way to save 14 lives, people living through a nightmare most of us canโt even begin to imagine. Your action, however small, can be part of easing it.

This is a question young Omar asks every morning, with hungry eyes and a hoarse voice from crying, in a heart-rending scene.
It's not a casual question; it's the cry of pain of a hungry childโฆ and a cry for help from the heart of stricken Gaza.
The Hashem family, like thousands of families in Gaza, lives a daily tragedy in order to feed their infant.
Today, obtaining a carton of baby formula has become a distant dream, its price having become unaffordable for families who have lost their homes and sources of income due to the siege and destruction.
Hashem, the grieving father, goes out every day in search of milkโฆ roaming the streets and pharmacies, returning each time with empty hands and a heart heavy with helplessness.
In his home, a helpless mother weeps silently, and a child who will not stop crying from extreme hunger.
This is not a scene from a movie; it is the harsh reality of a besieged people, in a world from which milk has disappearedโฆ and with it, compassion.
๐จ More than 66 children in Gaza died of malnutrition after Israel closed the crossings and prevented the entry of milk and essential food supplies.
