How To Start Cosplay For A Cosplay Beginner?
One of the questions most frequently asked by new cosplayers is, "How do I start?" Whenever I get messages or comments with this question, I have to sit there and stare at the words for a while. Sometimes I'm not sure I understand what they're asking. I've been cosplaying for so long that all the prep work is almost second-nature, and my "start" of a project is buying the costume and prepare the cosplay props, but that's not really the beginning.
Pick a Character You Can Cosplay As
This is one of the most important steps to cosplaying. You want to be able to not only pick an interesting character, and one that may be fairly well-known, but you also want to pick someone that you can relate to.Â
The biggest part of cosplay isnât just looking the part, but acting the part. If you are going as the Joker then you better have a creepy smile and an eerie laugh. If youâre going as Harley Quinn then I expect a slight Boston accent and a whole lot of âPuddinâ.â
For me, I choose what character I want to be, and then I study them. I stare at reference pictures, look up multiple angles and detail photos. I make sketches, even if they're not always good, to familiarize myself with details.Â
Find Original Look Cosplay Costume Online
My sewing skills are limited so I am not able to make those very good looking cosplay costume all by myself. I have given a comparison between those online cosplay stores, like xcoos, ezcosplay, cosplaysky and so on. No matter for the price, the web styles, quality and the shipping service, I prefer xcoos most so I always buy my costume there except I canât find the one I want to cosplay as.
Have fun with those special cosplay costume, too. Put the costume on and model it for your family and friends.Even better, if you can model it for another fan they can give you some tips. And be ready to get into character here, make this a total dry run for your character so that you are ready for anything!
Make My Own Cosplay Accessories Using Tutorials
Often the hardest part of the costume is getting everything to match. I am poor at sewing my own cosplay costume, but I am glad to make my won cosplay props using proper cosplay tutorial,
Figure out the Cosplay Makeup and Accessories First
Leaving the makeup to the last second is often the worst idea.Your makeup is what is truly going to identify you as your character, so ensure that you have this mastered before you begin on the rest of your costume.Finding clothing that matches your shade of makeup will be a lot easier than trying to find makeup to match your finished costume!
Then I just.. Do it! After collecting materials and resources, it's time to get things done! Pick apart, and start working on it!
