And voila. Pretty darn close to the @tastynalder’s salad I keep dreaming about- crisp ice shocked #radicchio, chopped soft boiled #eggs, crisp thick cut #bacon, #avocado white wine vinaigrette and shredded #manchego. Almost like a twist on frisée aux #lardons. (at home base)
I recently ate something quite similar at a dinner party, and it was absolutely delicious! My friend M calls it “Salad Carbonara.”
Found in the dictionary.
Let the book remain open at all times.
My dictionary of choice is the Merriam-Webster Collegiate dictionary (although, I also have some fondness for the portable versions of the Oxford American and American Heritage dictionaries). I have used the collegiate version of Webster’s as my go-to for about twenty-five years now. The massive Unabridged Merriam-Webster, discussed above, looks like a thing of pure joy. Also, it appears to come with its own proprietary “Dictionary Table.”
Gena Rowlands on the set of The Spiral Road, 1962, photographed by Leo Fuchs
I love this stunning photograph of Gena Rowlands, from 1962.
M (dir. Fritz Lang — 1931)
I love Fritz Lang’s brilliant, early-sound film, M.
Football urinal
At the National Football Museum in Manchester, even the toilets are themed.

Manchester City Centre, Victoria Station Approach (Stop Nx), Manchester M4, UK
I am a fan of this football-themed display of urinal ingenuity from the Manchester City Centre in Manchester, England.
Ferguson, Missouri USA
I thought this photograph from the “Ferguson unrest” in 2014 was terrific.
The Cliffs of Moher, on the west coast of Ireland, are perhaps the most beautiful and moving geographic “wonders” that I’ve ever seen in person. I’m not sure that I can articulate why, exactly. But I found their scale, severity, and austere beauty... absolutely breathtaking.
Psychoanalysis - EC Comics
Excited that Louis CK’s show is back tonight so I made this portrait.
I’m not sure why, but this simple, sad-sack caricature of comedian Louis C. K. really pleases me.

What we’re reading
This odd, old paperback pleases me.
The Vision
I don't believe that melodramatic feelings are laughable. They should be taken absolutely seriously.
Rainer Werner Fassbinder
I love this quote.
I like Sam Fuller’s movie WHITE DOG.
Oh, hai.
I really like the film SANS SOLEIL by Chris Marker.
