im mei. i write a lot, and i use my writing as a coping mechanism more often than i truly mean to

this is my MSPFA. it means a lot to me! i want to write stories discussing things that have affected me and my loved ones my whole life AND make it into an interesting and fun adventure at the same time! this is what i use to do that, a fucking homestuck fan adventure. i do agree that thats a little silly but hey! its fun!

ISOLATED INCIDENT contains politics, existentialism, gore, LESBIANS (mostly trolls), other queer creatures, sins-of-the-father type shit, denial, constant struggling and a whole lot of lore that i spent (way) too much time on. im going to keep working on this even if it doesnt get a lot of attention, because god fucking damn it i love this thing and i love my team and i love the way we work on it together

ISOLATED INCIDENT is still ongoing. I am writing further and further like a goddamn manuscript, I have begun work on ACT 3. This means that ACT 1, INT 1, ACT 2 and INT 2 are all WRITTEN.

I, however, can no longer get new panels. I need to find another artist one way or another, but I must wait until I can pay said artist. ISOLATED INCIDENT will likely resume visualisation in 2024, sometime, somehow. I refuse to give up on the project, I'm still writin' motherfuckers. I got a story to tell.

Go read MSPFA's ACT 1. Read it like an incomplete picture book of a movie script, but read it goddamn it.

We need a digital archive of LGBTQ+ works of art, science, and every other conceivable work we can share between each other because we are beyond the genocide warning level in most countries in the west and they're already trying to purge us from libraries.

Speaking as someone with a background in archives, stuff like this does already exist. No need to reinvent the wheel. Creating an archive and making sure it's accessible and searchable and actually preserves things for the long time (especially digital things) is actually a huge undertaking. Show some love to these already existing collections and maybe even consider contributing. There's the Digital Transgender Archive off the top of my head. I know more I just have to think.

The History Project, based in Boston, is an LGBTQ+ community archive that's existed for decades. Many of their collections are digitized.

The Lesbian Herstory Archives, based in Brooklyn, is similar.

The Digital Public Library of America covers a great many topics, but they also have LGBTQ+ stuff.

I'd also recommend searching "lgbtq+" and "libguide" in your preferred search engine. Many universities list helpful resources and databases, some of which are freely accessible.

Many public and academic libraries in the US and Canada (not sure where you're writing from) subscribe to the Gale Archives of Sexuality and Gender. If you have a library card or are a student at a given library, you can access it for free.

In general, I'd really recommend searching around to see how you can support existing museums, community archives, college and university archives, etc that specialize in LGBTQ+ history and media local to you, whether that's in your same town or regionally.

I recently discovered this tumblr and it's been super useful for me since I'm making a fanventure! One thing I'd like to know, though, is how Hussie made the panel on Homestuck page 4801. I find the "gradual shift in focus" very cool and was wondering how the blur effect was done.

For that panel, he used a Gaussian blur filter. Recreating this panel would be fairly straightforward. First, the background and subject would have to be three separate layers: one for the foreground subject, one for the background subject, and one for the actual background.

I've grouped them together as you can see here, and duplicated it four more times. The gun starts off with a strength of 4 pixels, and for each subsequent duplicate layer, the strength of the Gaussian blur filter is reduced by 1 pixel for the foreground element, and increased by 1 pixel for the background element.

I believe the background was done differently, however. Instead of increasing the strength of the blur, Hussie duplicated the background layer on top of the original background, blurred it by 4 pixels, and increased the opacity of the duplicate for each frame of animation.

to be completely honest its not great. made dave's rig myself out of separated images and there just... weren't enough for all the actions.

so if i'm using any of these wrong, sorry.

i'm hoping as @crabbchips makes separated bits for the characters these will up significantly in quality.

if you wanna know more about our little webcomic thing see @meicottonsoul's blog. they direct the project and show regular updates when our ADHD asses can be bothered to do some work. they also host a google drive with every act so far, yet to be visualized, but still written in full.
