<girl power : no boys allowed>
In the past, there was an event game called “girl power : no boys allowed” in the overwatch. Only female characters were able to choose. Blizzard Korea has translated this <no boys allowed> into <미안해요, 오빠들> This means “I’m sorry for “oppa””. Many female gamers in Korea have criticized this, but Blizzard Korea has not changed this. I am still angry and unforgettable.

in a patriarchal korean family, brother has the same power as father. and father is like a god. Younger sister should obey the male members of the family. From an early age, such thoughts are indoctrinated into education and social atmosphere, and forced to be obedient.
The dictionary meaning of the word “오빠” is the word used by a woman to refer to her older brother. However, it is not only used between family members, but is also a common designation that is frequently used between men and women younger than them, for instance, between friends, and lovers.
Korean men like to be called “오빠”,very much. It’s a bit obsessive. They really really like that word. because it reminds him of his patriarchal power. And he expects every woman to be obedient like his younger sister. Sometimes, in a relationship where there is a difference in power, it is often the case that a person is called “call me 오빠”. It is one of the unpleasant flirting that many Korean women experience.
Did you understand why we were criticized for translating “I am sorry for 오빠들(plural of “오빠”)” ?
and It is not something that women should be sorry about men. thing that women are gathered together. except for men.
I feel stuffy many people who do not understand this. I am a Korean woman, but I have NEVER EVER been empowered by the word ‘Oppa’ in my whole life. (The comment seemed to exist, but it disappeared now.) There are many kinship rape, sexual violence by hierarchy, and pedophilia cultures in Korea. The meaning of 'Oppa’ in this culture is violent. Mainly girl of teens and twenties are forced to use the word 'Oppa’ to male elders. Even if you enter college right now, the late 20’s men tell their newcomers to call themselves 'Oppa’. It is very disgusting. The word 'Oppa’ has already been sexualized by men in the language of a young woman. (It is similar to the Japanese 'Onii chan’.) Recent Korea society has very little understood of sarcasm. So it is NOT SARCASM. Even if it is correct, Korean men do not understand anything except about 'Oppa’.(BCZ it so sweet word for them) Even '미안해요, 오빠들’ this sentence is mainly composed of an honorific word. This translation is just one of Blizzard Korea ’s trolling for women(Korea society has very deeply Misogyny even if Blizzard. (it is the same Korean men anyway lol)), and most of the female users were very offended include me.This Artist is trying to rebut based on this. and if you do not understand about the specific culture of Korea Misogyny properly, DO NOT SAY ANYTHING. It is a cultural deception. more reference: https://koreankinshipterms.wordpress.com/related-research/ https://koreankinshipterms.wordpress.com/sexualization-of-oppa/
앞으로 존재할, 지금 싸우고있는 모든 디바들을 위해
d.va (Hana Song) is a Korean pro gamer character of future. Many women gamer are fighting Misogyny, not enemies, when playing games. In Korea, I always meet men who blame me because I am a woman. They say: “If I lose, it’s because of you (because you are a girl and a girl does not play well).”
I was drawing This picture for all the women fighting as gamer like a D.va.
I hope that female gamers like D.va will be able to play game more fun And hope to be able to concentrate fully on fighting enemies not Misogyny.
Even as flowers wither, don’t you worry, they will bloom again
the age when you’re neither a child nor an adult, but just being yourself, you’re shining the brightest. don’t be afraid even if the darkness settles, as it’s so beautiful, as flowers are blooming.
