there is something so profoundly resonant about the way the line between fiction and reality is drawn in this movie and how it displays the trans experience. the world you know, that you’ve known since the very beginning, the life you’ve been living, is not what’s real, and you know this, and your skin is a few sizes too small and you are a shell of yourself but it’s safe, and it’s easy, and it’s familiar, and who you know you are, what you know is real, is so much more terrifying and outrageous that you can’t let yourself believe it, because it’s crazy, it’s wrong, it’s painful, and it’s just easier if it’s not true. it can’t hurt you if you don’t think about it. god. fuck
