What the majority of “international sites” doesn’t say is that the police were extremely aggressive against the protesters, were aiming at both protesters and civilians alike (no discrimination, if you were there you could be hit and they’d use force against you), they shot journalists (at least 6 according to what I gathered on my twitter feed), brought tanks and horses and “blocked the street before the protesters could block it” which caused everyone not involved to be stuck and being caught in scenes that were borderline war like.

And how television manipulated information to protect the police and put the protesters as being ‘villains’, and ‘disorganized’, when police were kicking trash cans and vandalizing the city much as some protester groups were doing (the protests were for the most part pacific), and as soon as traffic started running again they ended their coverage about this topic as if that was the only thing important about this all.

They took down subways with that too, so it was basically closed for hours until some hours ago (21:40pm)

I’m not even going to comment on how São Paulo’s mayor kept tweeting about other things as if nothing happened while people were getting gravely injured and some journalists got guns pointed at their faces since they didn’t want anyone to spread what was going on about this on or how the police openly said “they won’t be responsible for what happens to people”, not wearing badges so you can’t do anything about it if they do get violent towards you. 

And this is because they keep raising prices for our public transport which is extremely subpar, but they still think it is a reasonable idea to ask you for R$3,20 when the state of some of the buses you get in are extremely deplorable. If you dare raise your voice for once you are in the wrong. 

If others try to protest in other countries, what will be shown is “HOW GREAT THESE PEOPLE ARE!!! WE SHOULD PROTEST FOR OUR RIGHTS TOO!! BRAZIL IS JUST POPULATED BY PEOPLE WHO ARE UNCULTURED BUT LET’S SEE ABOUT THIS PROTEST FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY BECAUSE THEY ARE GREAT!”

When this happens here, we are ‘vandals’ and ‘people who go against order’, protecting the system instead of its people.

Avenida Paulista, a major avenue in São Paulo, Brazil, is currently the site of indiscriminate police brutality and violence against a group of peaceful protesters (estimated to be around 5,000 people). The protesters had gathered against an increase in fare for Brazil’s public transit system.

Tanks and police horses were brought in and at least six reporters have been shot with rubber bullets, two of whom were shot in the face. Reporters and protesters have been arrested for carrying vinegar (used to protect themselves from the effects of pepper spray) under charges of possessing weapons. Many protesters have been injured and peacefully chanting crowds are being fired on with police flares/bombs.

Today’s violence comes after an aggressive police response on Tuesday to similar protests where 25 people were arrested (link in English). Reporters Without Borders has released a statement about Tuesday’s protest covering the abuses against reporters (one of whom was beaten in the ribs with a police baton even though he had just showed his press badge) and a recent murder of a reporter.

A video and first-person account from a protesterwho witnessed someone being beaten for defending another person, and who was then attacked themself for videotaping the violence.

PLEASE take a second to read about this and to reblog any posts you see about the protests, especially those from Brazilian bloggers. This is a horrifying abuse of police power and should be brought to people’s attention ASAP.

Okay so I have a very serious question to ask, here’s the situation:

A friend of mine is currently in a situation at her home that has made her seriously consider taking her life. Her father just shut off the internet but me and another person have her on the phone right now. She’s not going to do anything that we know of right now but she needs to get out and I don’t want to leave what could happen to her to chance.

So do any of you if you live in the NJ area or by it know of a place that could take her in? Even for a little while like a shelter?

A very immediate and very dire need of help.

Hello, for those who aren’t following me, I’m Case, a musician and amateur VA. I run the blogs AskKarkatVoice and ImagineYuorOTP, and I’m part of the music team and cast for Featherbent.

So, I live with my dad, and we manage to scrape by living with just enough for bills at the end of the month. I’ve always tried to help with costs here and there with the money I make, which isn’t much, but I imagine every little bit helps. I also have to pay for certain things myself, like college.

My dad found out today he is going to need surgery that will cost 20,000 dollars, and our insurance company won’t pay more than 9,000 dollars. On top of that, he’ll be unable to work for over 4 weeks, meaning 4 weeks of no income from him.

We’re going broke and we need to come up with $11,000very soon or else we risk losing everything.

His surgery is June 11th. We won’t have much longer to come up with the money than that. 

We’ve been in the hole for much longer than this, but to keep integrity, I never wanted to ask anything of my followers. This is different.

We need help. $11,000 of it. If my dad doesn’t go through with this surgery it could kill him. And if we don’t have the money in a few months, we will be so far in debt I don’t know what they’ll repossess from us.

There are a lot of ways you can help, and most of them are donating and getting nothing in return!

To start off, my dad is selling a book on amazon, The Mim Index, for 5 dollars. It’s basically a political thriller that takes a lot of “what ifs” of the near future and pushes them to the extremes. 

Method number two. I have a Bandcamp page where I currently have an album titled Trying Too Hard that you can pay the set price, or more for. The listed price is 5 dollars, but If you could please chip in more, it is much appreciated. I will also have an EP with a similar model coming out soon, We Mars, and it might be there by the time you read this.

Method number three, Very soon I am opening up voice acting commissions. I’m preparing a short info-video for it to announce it, but if you want to get in early and make some requests, here is where to do so.

And finally, Method number four, donations. I’ve set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of at over half what we need. The payments don’t run through paypal and it’s easier to withdraw, plus there’s no end date. 

Anything you can do to help is appreciated. We really need anything we can get. Please spread this around and let others know, things are extremely hard and you all have my utmost gratitude in advance.

Hey, so, I hate to make a post like this, but the time has come that I really do need some help with this. The images here are pictures of myself about 2 weeks ago, in the critical care unit of St Francis Memorial Hospital (hyped up on pain meds enough to take ridiculous hospital selfies). I had contracted a pretty rare (for my age, anyway) heart virus called Pericarditis. For those of you who don’t want to google it. it basically means the outer sac of my heart was inflamed, which caused my heart to be unable to pump correctly, get damaged, as well as restrict my breathing. And also put me in extreme pain. I was in the hospital for about a week, having taken a taxi there with the help of my friends, and from what the doctor told me, had I not done that in the speed I had, I wouldn’t be here today. Its kind of a miracle my heart only suffered minor damage.

Here’s where it gets worse. While I was in the hospital, my mother’s car was stolen from the hospital parking lot. While that in itself is bad, I happened to be moving from my dorm that weekend to my new apartment; so all of my belongings were in that car. Thankfully, we tracked down the car thanks to Car Track, but everything had been stolen out of it except maybe half of my clothing. Upon leaving the hospital, I had to go to the shoe store and buy myself new shoes because I didn’t own any anymore. A lot of my pants are gone (???) as well as my laptop, my printer, my 3DS, and just… everything. Seriously. Imagine everything you own, gone, except for your socks, underwear, shirts, and like 2 pairs of pants.

It gets worse. While I was in the hospital, my boss got pissed at me for not sending her updates on my condition (which I couldn’t really do seeing as I could barely move, let alone text), so she replaced me. Don’t get me started on how illegal that is, but it doesn’t matter now. I’ve discussed my options about that and realized theres not really much I can do about it. I begged for my job back, and theres a very minimal chance I’ll get it back which basically involves me getting a bunch of doctors notes and proving myself, etc.

And then, to top it all off, my moms house flooded JUST in my old bedroom, so all my belongings that I had left at her place (mostly stuffed animals, drawings supplies, and posters) are all completely soaked and ruined.

So as you can see, I’m having a terrible two weeks.

So while I can probably find a new job soon, and I can eventually get all my stuff back through insurance, paying for rent is where I’m stuck. I have enough money to pay this month’s rent saved up, but next month’s rent, I don’t. If I do get my job back, no doubt she’ll cut my hours, so I probably won’t be able to pay for my rent with or without my job. So all I ask if that if you have a dollar to spare, please send it to my paypal at [email protected]

Seriously, if every one of my followers sends me a dollar, I’m halfway there. My rent is $600 a month, so thats all I need. I’m not asking to reimburse my lost things. Just help me pay rent, and maybe groceries if I get enough money.

This is ALEX, who goes by NOWHERE MAN on Facebook. He is THIRTY YEARS OLD and attends SCA events, attends anime conventions, and hangs out in the Delmar Loop. He is POTENTIALLY ARMED and owns an assortment of weapons including KNIVES, BOWS, SWORDS, DAGGERS, ETC. He is a GUN RIGHTS ACTIVIST and I have reason to believe he OWNS SEVERAL FIREARMS. He drives a CAR and a MOTORCYCLE. This past weekend at Anime St. Louis I made the mistake of letting this guy stay in a room I had available. During the convention he sexually harassed NO FEWER THAN THREE TEENAGERS. His targets seem to be 16-18 YEAR OLD CISGIRLS, TRANSGUYS, OR ANDROGYNOUS PEOPLE, particularly those who are THIN ENOUGH THAT HE COULD OVERPOWER THEM.

He has been STALKING one person since JANUARY, including sending them harassing messages, telling others that they are dating and referring to them as both his girlfriend and his “ex,” using emotional manipulation to convince them not to tell anyone, and then CLAIMING THAT THEIR FATHER THREATENED TO KILL HIM when all that was said was to basically stay the fuck away from his kid. He spent half the convention crying to us about how he is HEARTBROKEN that the teenager he’s stalking IS DATING SOMEONE ELSE.

He took TWO DIFFERENT GIRLS to his [my] hotel room, that he was SHARING WITH MY TWO COWORKERS, and fucked them both while my coworkers were at the con doing filming work — essentially ALLOWING TWO STRANGERS INTO A ROOM WITH OUR CAMERA EQUIPMENT.

He FELT UP A TEENAGER’S THIGH AND GRINDED UP AGAINST HER during the Saturday night rave/dance and WOULD NOT STOP WHEN SHE SAID SHE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE.

He REFUSED TO STOP TOUCHING/POKING/HUGGING my 17 year old friend and got REALLY WHINY when we told him to FUCKING STOP IT.

Please stay the fuck away from him. If he so much as sets foot ANYWHERE the fuck near Promstuck I will CALL THE GODDAMN COPS.

Last week, I reblogged a plea for aid on behalf of Chloe Sagal, an independent video game developer who needs surgery to remove a bit of metal from her body before it poisons her.

Thanks to the, uh, let’s go with “vigilance” of a stand-up group of people on that bastion of human wisdom and compassion we know as Reddit, that fundraising drive was torpedoed before it could pick up steam. Apparently it was just too much to believe that the U.S. health care system would let someone fall through the cracks rather than admit a mistake and provide someone with care necessary to their continued existence, and that the courts wouldn’t straighten the whole thing out by finding in favor of an individual versus a large corporation. 

Well, Chloe’s putting herself on the line again. Here’s the link to her new fundraiser, this time spearheaded by herself. The title? I Am Going To Survive. If that’s not worth a buck or two, I don’t know what is.

Ugh I don't normally do this but honestly I can't take it anymore

So if you’re a follower for a while and have read some of my read mores you probably know I have a really shitty family. Anyways to the point of this post. I can’t deal with them anymore.

I’m looking for a place to stay and I do have a couple hundred dollars with me and stuff but that won’t be enough to pay rent or anything for a month right? So I’m wondering if there are families that live in either Vancouver, BC (preferably places near the Canada Line Skytrain stations) or Richmond, BC. 

If I do come down to the thought of running away from home one day and you happen to have a family who is accepting of me, I promise I’ll help around. Like do the dishes, clean the house a little, and even babysit (if they have kids). Please I’m sort of looking for a way out of my dreadful family.

Hi there! My name is Sophia Thomas. I am a 22 year-old transgender woman currently living in Massachusetts. I have been transitioning socially for four years now, and medically for two and a half, and transition is what I’m here to talk about.

With my name finally changed, all that really remains for my transition is what many consider “the big end”: surgery. 

For many transgender people, genital surgery (or “bottom surgery”) is incredibly important, especially for transfeminine people such as myself. For one, having two sets of hormones in your body at the same time can actually be harmful to your health, and the remaining presence of the body’s genetic hormones can hinder the effectiveness of the new ones being added. 

For trans women in particular, surgery can mean the difference between surviving or getting killed during sexual assault. Far too often I hear stories of the horrible deaths given to transgender women after they were sexually assaulted. While this is, of course, no fault of the victim, I can’t wait for society to grow up. I want a fighting chance.

It can also help with passing—a trans woman who doesn’t pass 100% of the time may be immediately outed by the sight of a bulge in her pants, and this can often lead to the aforementioned sexual assault. While I don’t have too much difficulty passing, you can never be too cautious. Keep in mind that this isn’t exactly something I’ve wanted to do. I’m going to be graduating college soon, and hopefully I’ll be able to get a job that could pay for surgery, but in the off chance that doesn’t happen, I want to have a safety net. 

So, I’m asking for donations.

Bottom surgery for trans women is incredibly expensive, ranging on average from $15,000 to $30,000. Combine that with student loan debt, and you have some seriously daunting numbers. I’m asking because I still have a chance. I’m still young, but I was not able to get any sort of familial support, which can be essential for young trans people of all genders. I don’t want to wait until I’m 30. I don’t want to seem like I’m begging, and I’m not. If you aren’t able to donate, that’s completely fine. I understand that almost all of my friends are broke college and high school students like myself. So, at the very least, I just request that you signal boost, and even then, just knowing I have your support matters to me.

Also, if by some stroke of luck, I find a way to pay for my surgery be it through a job or other means, I will either donate the money earned to some LGBT charity group (any suggestions for a particular group would be more than welcome), or to funding the surgery of one of my friends. I’m a firm believer in giving back to the community.

And hey, I figure if a group of frat boys can put together a charity to pay for their transgender member’s top surgery can put together a fund, I should give it a shot. And if a group of three guys who like to talk over movies can raise three times their goal in a day and a half to riff Twilight, or a certain webcomic artist can raise two MILLION dollars to make a video game, I think raising $20,000 can be done.
