throwing this one in the tags for visibility but how do y'all handle drinking/eating/doing things while in bed on your side or back? i can't sit up in bed even to do those things most of the time and it's making a mess for the things i'm even able to do (i'm barely able to use my laptop like this). dyspraxia is probably not helping but i think not having the option to sit/stand up and do things is affecting basic stuff like that pretty heavily at the moment
Okay, this is gonna be a bit long probably...
Drinking:
I use normal drinking bottles (mine are the plastic ones from sigg) when I'm doing okay or for stuff that has sugar.
I also have a bottle with a hose (?) (like those things you use for hiking where the bag with water is in your backpack and you can drink from the hose without having to get the bottle). This is really good cause I can drink relatively independently even with relatively severe muscle weakness.
Stuff with soup like consistency:
I drink protein shake from a shaker. It's similar to the bottles and I can drink it on the side and on the back.
Eating soup with a spoon while lying down doesn't work too well...
Eating:
I have a bedside table that can be on the same height as my adjustable bed. Most of the time I eat while lying on my side. Sometimes I put the plate on my chest, when I can only lie on my back. Rarely, someone needs to feed me.
Doing stuff:
I mostly do stuff on my phone (like drawing, writing, organising etc.). I also have a laptop in a laptop holder that's attached to my bed. Friends mostly sit/lie on my bed. Knitting is pretty easy to do while lying in bed.
I kinda have a long post about creative stuff and so on as a bedbound person and there is another link to the bedbound master list somewhere in there.

Hope that helps!
thank you for your reply! it'll be good to have a look through that and see what things could help. i think some of it isn't stuff i could do unfortunately (i was using bottles before but negotiating that with carers was tricky for me) but it's nice to have a starting point, to have options and to not feel quite so alone dealing with all of this. i haven't gone through all the resources you've linked yet (i think that might take some time) but i appreciate you having spent so much time to consolidate all of that together
managed to argue the gp into giving me more oramorph "for emergencies, when you'd end up in hospital otherwise". yes! that is exactly what i asked for! and what the hospital originally prescribed them for! glad we're on the same page now!
Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.
Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.
it’s never a normal temperature anymore it’s always some fucking bullshit

this disability pride month, consider branching out. learn a bit about a disability you don’t know much about. donate to a charity for a condition that doesn’t affect anyone you know. speak up for and value the lives of the disabled people who are so isolated you’ll never meet them, people who are institutionalised or can’t go outside or speak or type. show some love to disabled strangers in any way you can.
PlayStation putting out a legal notice saying they’re removing 500+ movies from user accounts days before announcing they’re getting rid of physical discs for games is an interesting choice
not doin any of that mr ms mrs mx business . unfortunately i dont have a robust enough academic or medical background to be called doctor. but i could go by Mt. aka mount. aka mountain. the only thing you can glean from that is that im big as fuck
