On todayâs episode of my Meryl re-watching spree
Postcards from the Edge đ
What a fantastic film!
And in my opinion one of her most quotable, there are some absolute classics in there I have so many favouritesđ€Ł Iâve not watched it for yeaaars but I can still recite the lines like it was yesterday.
âIâm checkinâ outâ is a TUNE why is it not on my music streaming service?
Suzanneâs sarcasm & humour are everything and probably a big contributing factor in my own dark sense of humour to be honest đ I fucking love her.
Her hair and wardrobe in this are fabulous, I personally want to recreate the denim jacket and skirt combo she looks gorgeous đ
Postcards from the Edge was adapted for the screen by the fabulous Carrie Fisher, from her book with the same title. The screenplay was deservedly nominated for a BAFTA. I highly recommend the book. Iâve read it numerous times and those quotable lines are all in the book. There is a follow up book of sorts called Delusions of Grandma which is almost as good.

Can you please elaborate on the Stephen Colbert RPF thing. This is a judgment free zone Iâm just deathly curious
Ah yes well you see Stephen Colbert used to play a parody of a Fox News pundit on a show called The Colbert Report (American news satire program popular in the late 00s/early 10s). The character was explicitly a closeted gay man who was driven to conservatism due to his own insecurity/internalized homophobia. He had a homoerotic relationship with Jon Stewart whom he pretended to hate but had several romantic moments with.
When their shows ended they wrote a soft epilogue for their fictionalized selves where they retire to a cabin in the woods together and itâs implied theyâre married now. The most beautiful self-written rpf of all time.
It was a beautiful slow burn self-written rpf that unfolded over, like, 10 years they worked together? It started as a joke but ended up being a genuine canon part of the fictionalized Stephen Colbert? Iâm not joking.
Weâve literally lost such a fundamental part of our culture the day someone comes into my ask to be like âwhat would Stephen Colbert rpf even conceivably be about?â
For those who are curious, here is John Oliver talking about the RPF slash fanfic that was written about Stephen and Jon (and himself) during that time:

On AndroidÂ
With the release of Android 12, Google began allowing users to delete their ad ID permanently. On devices that have this feature enabled, you can open the Settings app and navigate to Privacy > Ads. Tap âDelete advertising ID,â then tap it again on the next page to confirm. This will prevent any app on your phone from accessing it in the future.
On iOSÂ
To see which apps you have previously granted access to, go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking. You can set the âAllow apps to Request to Trackâ switch to the âoffâ position (the slider is to the left and the background is gray). This will prevent apps from asking to track in the future. If you have granted apps permission to track you in the past, this will prompt you to ask those apps to stop tracking as well. You also have the option to grant or revoke tracking access on a per-app basis.
Apple has its own targeted advertising system, separate from the third-party tracking it enables with IDFA. To disable it, navigate to Settings > Privacy > Apple Advertising. Set the âPersonalized Adsâ switch to the âoffâ position to disable Appleâs ad targeting.
Ive sworn by this since I started doing it several years ago but Ill say it again for my newer followers.
I highly recommend having a folder of screenshots of all of your positive comments for the days when you start to doubt yourself. Give yourself easy access to all of the sweet things people have said about your writing. It feels nice to sometimes just randomly go back through it too.
