you can call me mel, any pronouns. i'm a hellenic polytheist, witch, and shifter.

this blog is devoted to my practice and religion, and sharing/connecting with others of said practices and religion. that being said, i love learning about others' perspectives and culture! norsepols, celtpols, pop culture pagans, and all kinds of spiritualists are welcome here!

i'd say the deities i worship most are lady athene, lord hermes, lord dionysos, lord hypnos, lady hekate, and lord kronos.

Magical and Mundane

I feel that the deeper you get into the magical, may that be shifting, folk practices, occultism, etc. the more you learn to appreciate the mundane. Go and have lighthearted, simple, conversations with others. Things shouldn't have to be serious all the time, it's important to have fun too.

Matter of fact, you can probably incorporate fun "mundane" things into your practice. You can listen to music as a form of manifestation, aimlessly drive to meditate, read a book from your culture to honor your ancestors, etc.

some of the most common terminology used for associations/traits include but are not limited to: attraction, banishing, binding, cursing, divination, dreamwork, fertility, fidelity, love, lust, manifestation, protection, psychic abilities, power, warding

keywords for items include associations that would be considered benefic to the caster, and if an item also has a baneful association, it will be listed as such underneath its keywords - the same applies for items that may be toxic

has anyone else also named the full moons in a way that resonates more with them?

although i love the common native american names (pink moon, worm moon, etc) - i've found my own names based off the seasons where i live feel more... connected to the moons?

anyways i'd be very curious what others think, if they've similarly named the moons (and if so, what they named them).

I have, actually! There are a few names I’m still sorting out, but my list is mostly settled. I’ve renamed them based off the energy of the seasons where I am. As a few examples: January is the Still Moon, April is the Sprout Moon, October is the Release Moon.

chat, it's okay if the gods have a ""dark"" side. like I've been seeing people trying to cover the "immoral" part of them and that doesn't make any sense.

some of you have the christianised idea of god being merciful, generous and good like that religion tells others, but in reality that statement doesn't fit in the theoi (not even in christianity lol but I'm not the one to tell)!

Hermes is a thief, Apollo is a plague god, Dionysus is a madness god... let them be, why are you trying to make them look good? they're gods, understand their nature if you want them to be around you

It honestly strikes me as a bit strange that people do this because for me, the most appealing thing about this religion that made me choose it over Christianity is that the gods don't have to be perfect.

The problem of evil is a genuine problem for Christianity to contend with, because how does one reconcile the idea of an all-good, all-knowing, all-present, and all-powerful god with the fact that there is evil in the world?

In hellenic polytheism, I find comfort in the answer simply being that well, the gods are none of those things. They have limitations. And their power isn't inherently good, it also extends to things that we would consider "bad."

And that doesn't make the gods "bad," either. They just are. They are the manifestations of ultimate power relating to their domain.

The gods made the world. But "goodness" lies in how us humans choose to respond to it and to each other.
