Status Update: A Witch Bargain ♥

Hi my loves,

It’s been a while since my last update (about 10 months now), and I didn’t want to leave you in the dark any longer. Life has been really tough, and my motivation to write has been at its lowest. Every time I tried, it felt forced, and I ended up stuck. I’ve felt guilty toward myself and to all of you who have shown so much love and support for this story.

That said, I want to be clear: I haven’t abandoned A Witch Bargain. I still love the premise deeply, but after revisiting what I’ve written, I’ve decided to take the story in a new direction. This current version will be placed on hiatus (I don’t believe in deleting works cause I'm a reader, too). My plan is to rewrite A Witch Bargain from the ground up, revising relationships, some plots, characters, and backstories that I introduced the first time around.

Part of what burned me out was my own perfectionism and tendency to write everything in detail, which caused the story to drag and drained me creatively. This fresh start feels like the right path forward.

I truly appreciate all of your kind comments, kudos, and private messages. They really kept me going. I can’t promise fast updates, but I do want to give this story the rewrite it deserves and stand behind.

I haven’t been able to “fandom” correctly due to stress, work, my mom’s health (not in the clear just yet) and school. But I’ve been lurking the way people discuss Bonnie/Qetsiyah vs the other witches is always… telling lol. Now yes racial dynamics bc of the writing does come into play but some people truly do seem to think that Bonnie and Qet couldn’t have done the same things that Freya/Dahlia and Hope etc does when in fact it’s just a loud clear distinction in how they saw the black women as servitudes while the white women are servitudes but done in a girl-boss type of way… yap

I think some anti-Bamons just don't want to admit how similar Bonnie and Damon are in some ways.

Her deciding not to tell Jeremy that there wasn't a way to save her at the end of S5 when the other side was going down and then waiting to tell him that over the phone when it was too late to do anything or even see her in person? Total Damon move.

Bonnie agreeing to put Klaus in Tyler's body without telling anyone or even consulting Tyler first at the end of S3? Damon move.

Let's not forget her agreeing to Damon's plan at the 60's dance to fake her death even with knowing how much pain it would cause Elena.

She often makes choices for others or forms her own plan without consulting the group and has no guilt over it just like Damon. They are both willing to make hard decisions for the ones they love and accept the consequences of it rather than listen to what others may want. They are also often the ones spearheading the plan of the day for whatever the current crisis is. Bonnie and Damon are responsible for the whole plan to save the day at the end of S5 and were the two who put themselves in positions to sacrifice themselves for it.

How long can the microfics be?

We invite you to write a work of fiction with a wordcount under 1k. Therefore, your work should be a standalone, meant to be read without having to read a larger work so that readers can enjoy it to the fullest.

What should the fic be about? 

Whatever you want! Canon or AU, crack or general use the prompt however you see fit. Any genre is accepted! You can combine prompts, if you’d like. How you use the prompt is up to your interpretation! Let your muse move you.

You don’t have to write for every prompt of the month. There’s no pressure here, no commitment. This is just for fun. 

There are no stipulations on ratings, just be sure to add appropriate tags & content warnings to the top of post. If there is NSFW or sensitive topics in your piece, be sure to place it under a read more.
