Update on the Gender Wiki: Switching Directions

In a reply to the original announcement, a member of Fandom staff informed us that Fandom's decision was final, and the Gender Wiki will be closed on April 13. We will no longer be making an effort to change their mind, because clearly it will fall on deaf ears; Fandom still refuses to give us any real answers (such as to why Gender Wiki staff wasn't consulted before this decision).

However, we will not disappear. The wiki is being archived by WikiBot and should appear on this site within 24 hours, thanks to help from ArchiveTeam. Additionally, I'm working with a few users on a possible project that will organize a public "archive" on Tumblr, in which anyone can post all the information about a given gender and tag it, so the information is not lost and is kept accessible.

The Gender Wiki staff is also currently in conversations about moving the wiki to a public and editable site again. At this point it is most likely that we will move to another site (probably Miraheze), and continue from there. After this experience, our ultimate goal will be self-hosting, but this is still a little farther out than two weeks, as we lack experience with self-hosting and that advanced level of coding. (Experienced advice is welcome.)

I'd like to thank everyone, a thousand times, for all the things you've said, in reblogs to my original post or in signatures on the petition. It makes me so incredibly happy to know that our work on the Gender Wiki has positively affected so many people --- because that was /always/ the goal.

Please, please do not harass any particular people about this, even the user who posted the notice on the Gender Wiki. You can make posts targeted at Fandom as a whole, but don't target or harass any person.

So, on April 13, the Gender Wiki as we know it will be no more. But it will NOT be lost forever. We will NOT disappear. We will be coming back, and we hope to see you all there. I'll continue to post updates as things become clearer and plans are put in action.

This is blatant erasure because our wiki doesn’t cater to the ‘acceptable’ queer identity. They basically told us we’re not presenting gender identity responsibly because we don’t prohibit people (outside of obvious things like slurs) from making there coins weird or abnormal. It’s transphobic fucking bullshit because they are catering to the current regime while still trying to look politically correct. I also say this because there content moderation bot (Ik this from a staff member I’m friends w/ on another wiki. jayce loved Viktor more than Mel. he loved Viktor in a way that physically consumed him inside and out. He chose to KILL himself because he couldn't stand the thought of not being in a world without Viktor. He only killed Viktor because other Viktor told him to. When Caitlyn asked if Viktor was at the center of it all tears were in his eyes because he couldn't admit someone he lover that much was doing thar. He never said yes either.

Spinning: Gotland on my spindles (4-ply, one single per spindle, for funsies - except I accidentally mixed up which bits of fiber go with which single on which spindle, so that'll be fun to sort out...), 7oz/200g of red Merino on the wheel (for a crochet hat, followed by 9.5 oz of red and black Merino for a woven scarf). But also 24.5oz/700g of grey Merino. And cotton on the supported spindle. And I've got some laceweight viscose on the mini turkish spindle that I should really work on...

Crocheting: Half a dozen things, including a lacy collar that needs buttons and blocking, a gigantic star-shaped wrap-around shawl, an incredibly boring granny square top for my little sister, and too many others to count.

Art: The Emergency! tarot as the eternal never-ending WIP; I also have some Dragon Age Veilguard related plans revolving around the Grand Necropolis and irl Catacomb Saints and I'd love to get some DA-style tarot cards done for all my player characters.

Writing: I still have a couple unfinished fanfics that need another chapter, as well as two deeply self-indulgent OC/Emergency! crossovers that friends are making me write, and I also have some Dragon Age stuff in the works - though if anyone will ever see that is another question entirely.

Music: Practicing various stuff for LARP; also slowly chipping away at Hozier's Work Song because my partner asked nicely.

The kind filled with ground turkey, teryaki sauce, and ginger, with beetroot in the dough to make the pelmenis pink...get a big giant bowl of like 20 of them, put some sour cream and green onion on them, and sit back with a nice cold glass of sparkling lemonade? ugh sounds like heaven and I'm so sad I can't have any because I'm not there (Gotta learn to make them I guess)

6-year-old Joan Al-Habil is has been repeatedly hospitalized due to severe gastrointestinal problems and overwhelming fatigue. This poor girl has been to multiple facilities and seen multiple doctors, undergone extensive testing (as extensive as is possible in Gaza's collapsed medical system), even having to endure an unsedated endoscopy.

She has now been diagnosed with severe gastritis due to starvation and hazardous living conditions. Remember, she and her family are living on the streets, which are cold and wet due to winter rain. Homelessness, stress, exposure to the elements, her previous injury when the lOF firebombed her tent, and malnutrition all conspire to sap little Joan of her strength.

Her condition is so serious that she even had to undergo surgery. Gastritis very rarely requires surgery to treat, so this is an indication of how dire her condition is. The surgery was successful to a degree, but she is going to need ongoing treatment to manage her symptoms.

The treatments are administered weekly and cost $500 USD (just under €500 EUR). Her family has no income and cannot afford this. If Joan goes more than a few days without treatment, her symptoms worsen rapidly, and she sometimes has to be hospitalized. It is vital that we help her family procure her treatments so that her condition does not worsen!

This is a prime fucking example of the impacts genocide has we don't think about. This is a SIX year old girl. SIX FUCKING YEARS OLD. Gaza has no proper HEALTHCARE system. Healthcare in places not undergoing genocide is shitty alone. How is her family meant to pay for this if they probably don't have a source of income. Because how is anyone supposed to work when all the places they work at have Been bombed and they employees are dead.

The option that Viktor didn’t leave because he felt Jayce had betrayed him by fusing him with the hexcore

But also, I don't think it was just the hexcore. Not after the Welcome to Noxus cinematic.

The Hexcore doesn't really start screwing with Viktor until it comes in contact with his blood. This is framed as very important in the way it's shown.

Once Viktor is released from the goo, he is suddenly being plagued by visions of his former lab assistant. However, these visions aren't...completely accurate? Skye is different enough that it's suspect, not just in the way she behaves, but also in the way she looks. Viktor just doesn't realize it because, frankly, he barely knew her. This could be the hexcore on its own, sure. It's magic and wild and unpredictable....

However, in the cinematic, LeBlanc and her white haired boy toy admit to having played a part in what occurred in Piltover despite that we really don't see them do much there outside of finishing off Ambessa.

Now, we know what LeBlanc can do already just from Arcane. She's a shape shifter that uses the image of people the person knows/knew to screw with them.

That already makes sense. She took on Skye's form and used Viktor's guilt of getting her killed to mess with him.

But do you know what Vladimir is? He's a bloodmancer. And the Hexcore doesn't start messing with Viktor until after it gets a sample of his blood.

LeBlanc and Vladimir were the ones manipulating Viktor THROUGH the Hexcore.

Nobody really made Jinx

Powder was also unstable and mentally ill you just can't really tell as much with her. She was an 11 year old making nail bombs and bombs in general. What caused her to become Jinx wasn't her killing everyone and Vi 'leaving' her. Instead it was the toxicity of Silcos love for her. Silco loved her he really did but that love wasn't healthy it was extremely problematic. Her killing everyone was just another thing that added onto the pre-existing trauma but it didn't create Jinx. We see in the alternate time line that she despite it all (obviously things went very differently but still) she's able to be healthy. It was through her having an actual support system and non toxic love from people like Vander. I don't think this magically cured her neither. When Ekko asks about Vi's death she gets defensive and tells him to leave before she does something she regrets. She knows she's unstable to some extent she just knows how to control it. She was given a support system that allowed her to overcome her sisters death and heal in some manner. Because Jinx at the end of the day just wants her sister back. So does Vi. Its even in there god damn eye color.

Vi only is okay with Caitlyn killing her when she is 100% convinced Powder is gone. Vi left behind Powder because she was the ONE person she couldn't physically stand to lose. She didn't want to lose Mylo and Claggor but shed be able to handle it. Vander had been asking her who are you willing to lose. She didn't want to lose Mylo and Claggor but shed be able to cope with it. Basically my point is: Jinx is a result of the environment Powder grew up in.
