has anyone else noticed a sharp uptick in people straight up using the wrong word in common turns of phrase in the last few years? just in the past hour ive heard "courteous of" (vs. "courtesy of") and saying that an action would be "to [a company's] disregard" (vs. "discredit" or "disadvantage"), and i feel like i hear native speakers making this kind of mistake all the time these days, esp people in their mid-twenties or younger

like yeah prescriptivism is cringe and i dont wanna be all "dumb kids these days", but like. seems kinda bad that people aren't recognizing that what they're saying is blatantly nonsensical? especially in light of recent reporting about declining literacy rates

I appreciate the sentiment but I don't get all those "we made it to the longest night of the year! the light will start returning soon! it's all uphill from here & we're halfway there!" posts because like. Oct-Dec is the easier half of Winter. Jan-Apr is way harder. there's no big holidays or decorations, everyone is kind of over the whole Cozy Hygge Sweaters & Cocoa vibe so they're just tired & restless instead, and the whole thing is so drawn out & uneventful that it feels like it lasts 10x longer

Not only should it be law that anything AI generated on the internet should be labelled as such but every website, app, and digital service should have a button I can click that removes any AI from my interactions with that site/service. incredible sequence of events i just encountered in hades 2

i maxed moros' relationship, he & melinoe had their little ~moment~ on my way back from my next run, and immediately afterwards, i talked to dora, who said "girl where have you been??? you SMELL"

i was so absolutely scandalized until the conversation progressed and it turned out it was some random dialogue about the rift of thessaly that i guess i never proc'd and she meant melinoe smelled like seawater but for a minute there i was like. jaw on the floor gobsmacked
