don't mind me just popping in for the novelty of writing a post from a laptop for the first time in probably close to 10 years

this was originally an in-the-tags rant but it got really long and crazy so i figured i might as well just make it part of the post

there's not a whole ton going on these days. I'm still unemployed and it's a struggle not to place the entirety of my self-worth on that, especially with how many calls back and interviews i've done that have led nowhere.

it's.....weird, reflecting on the my decision to leave when i did and why. it was a no-win situation for me, so i'm constantly left feeling like i might have made the wrong choice. on one hand, i left without having anything lined up because my mental health was so bad, and i know that alone has been detrimental to finding something else. on the other hand, i literally might not have survived if i stayed until i had something else. a former coworker only JUST found a different job - and that was WHILE she was still employed and with far more experience than i have.

the "time off" has been nice because i've been able to cultivate a bit of a social life and explore hobbies i was always too tired for. i play weekly trivia and have been for the last year! i've been playing D&D weekly with the same group for almost a year! i've made friends through these and other avenues. i've been able to dedicate more time to beading and learning new techniques. i've gotten way more into video games than i ever thought i would. there's been so much good overall that's come out of it and i don't feel like i'm as deep in burnout as i was a year ago.

but...i miss the routine having a job forced me to have. i miss the daily interaction with other people. i miss making consistent money and having health insurance lol. door dashing is absolute hell and i haven't done it in weeks. we got very, very lucky in a way that means it isn't necessary right now. but i still feel horrible for "not contributing."
