Announcing a shiny new fest for the BBC Merlin fandom…

Merlin Tarot Fest!

Info: The Merlin Tarot Fest is a fanfic and fanart challenge using the 78 cards of the tarot as prompts. The fanworks do not need to focus on or even include tarot, but rather will be inspired by randomly pulled card(s). Each participant will be given their own card/card combination to inspire them! You will be able to decide if you want 1, 2, 3, or 5 cards for your inspiration. You will also be able to choose your pull from a limited selection of different tarot decks.

Requirements: For fanfic, writers must write a story of at least 750 words. For fanart, artists must create at least 1 piece.

Schedule: The sign-up period will last for 3 months. Posting will last another 3 months. The earlier you sign up, the longer you’ll have to complete your fanwork! Sign-ups will be open APRIL 1 - JUNE 30 Posting will be open JULY 1 - SEPT 30 Posting will not be scheduled or assigned. All participants can feel free to post to the AO3 collection anytime within the allotted posting time frame.

Hello everyone! As some of you know, the BBC Merlin fandom has many, many fests available year round; however, I’ve noticed a small lack of celebration for our himbo kings—Merwaine! Merlin and Gwaine have a very special, complex, and beautiful relationship that I think deserves more dedication. So, without further ado: welcome to merwaine fest😌

Yes, it’s official, we’re back again for our third year filling the hole, greasing the wheels, turning the knobs, and getting ready for a hot, kinky summer of filthy PWP goodness. We hope you’ll join us this August!

What is Kinkalot, you ask?

Kinkalot is an annual porn fest run by and for the BBC Merlin fandom, following in the footsteps of such fabulous forebears as Pornalot and the late, great Summer Pornathon! Kinkalot celebrates both our love of Merlin and our love of porny fanworks. Kinkalot runs over the course of August, with the aim of being a short, fun, kinky fest for the entire Merlin fandom.

How it Works:

The fest involves the following:

Weekly main challenges (500-1,000 words, or art equivalent)

Weekly bonus challenges (freeform, no word count limits, anything goes)

Team bingo challenges (500-1,500 words, or art equivalent)

Team comment challenges

Yes, that’s right, we’ll be returning with our team format this year! All participants are encouraged to join our Kinkalot Discord Server to mingle with other Kinkalotians and coordinate with your team members.

A Question To the BBC Merlin and Colin Morgan Fandoms

I'm hoping for lots of feedback, here.

Recently, I have been considering auctioning off part of my Merlin/Colin Morgan memorabilia collection. Specifically to benefit a charity to support UK Theatre creatives.

For example, I have the entire hardbound Merlin book collection as well as all the annuals. I have an official Merlin backpack, and some marketing materials. I also have plenty of hard to find magazines featuring Colin as well as theatre programmes.

But I also have some rare things that I would be willing to part with for this cause if I knew there was interest. Some of the things I might be willing to part with would be things like my official Merlin crew jacket and official Merlin Moleskine notebook that I bought from a charity auction from Dale McCready (the head of photography for Merlin), a First Series Merlin DVD signed on the case by Colin, programmes from the plays The Tempest and Translations autographed by the whole cast (acquired via charity auctions).

I also have a wonderful Merlin poster I bought from a former Shine employee that was fully signed by the Merlin cast at the official launch party at OXO Tower in 2008. Signatures of Richard Wilson, Anthony Head, Bradley James, Angel Coulby, Katie McGrath, and Colin Morgan all as big as your forearm in gold and silver metallic Sharpie. I love it to bits, but might be willing to rehome for a fair price.

Anyway, the point of this post is to determine whether there would be enough interest in the rarer items to make the effort of setting up auctions worth it.

Merlin Canon Fest 2020

We are almost a week away from claiming for Merlin Canon Fest 2020! Below you will find all the episodes of Merlin (two-parters count as one for the purpose of this fest) as well as the posting date for each episode. I will post the claiming form later this week (it might not be posted until the morning of claiming) that will ask for the five episodes you want to create for, but the ability to comment with your choices will not go live until June 6 at 12 pm PDT/ 2 pm CDT/ 3 pm EDT / 8 pm BST. When the claiming post goes live, you will comment to that post with your filled out claiming form (please provide all requested information). As this fest is hosted on LJ (Live Journal), all replies to the claiming post on LJ will have priority over others who Claim via e-mail, but after the initial rush of claims we will go by the order in which we receive them. There will be no time limit on claiming; we will accept them until all episodes are spoken for.
