" —— Uh - sure, I suppose you could,” Mordred sighs, chewing the inside of his cheek. “I sustained an injury during a patrol a few days ago, he told me to come back for a check up today and for some new dressing.”
Merlin gave a slow nod as he listened to the other but cleared his throat and stood after setting the boot to the side. " Simple enough. Follow me then. " The boy said as he began down the long hall -- slow enough for the other to catch up with him. "Where's the injury?" He asked as he glanced back at Mordred.

"Yes well, how can one think when you keep making the same scrubbing sounds many times in a row." He replied with a grin on his face. Walking over, he sat down beside Merlin, turning his head as his own blue eyes locked onto Merlin’s. "Is something on your mind?"
" --- You'll have to blame the boots for that. I'm merely doing what I'm suppose to. " Merlin gave him a small grin but watched him come over and sit , licking his lips as he did so. The young Warlock let their eyes remained locked for a second before he cleared his throat and looked back down at the boot , shaking his head. " No -- " He lied. " --- Nothing on my mind... Nothing interesting atleast. "

”Boring might be putting it lightly. Downright dull is more like it.” An apprehensive glance followed about the hall. Accepting the offered hand, he gave a brisk shake while focusing his gaze on the younger. “Pleasure to meet you, Merlin. The name’s Lysander. Servant to—well—myself,” he introduced while retracting his hand, “The prince’s servant, huh? What an honor that must be.”
" Id suggest a change in decor but there always seems to be something happening around here so I doubt it'd ever get done. " Merlin chuckled but returned the shake before nodding. " Pleasure to meet you as well , Lysander. " The boy smiled but snorted. " Oh but of course. I get to muck out the royal stables and clean the royal clothes. Polish the royal armor and -- I think you've gotten my point. " He said with a small laugh before he began to walk one way , expecting the other to follow.

For a moment, the young knight had almost forgotten as to why he was in Merlin’s company, the question on his tongue seemingly escaping him. “I —” he begins trailing off after a moment, “I — came to see Gaius, do you know where he is?”
Merlin takes a moment before he allows his eyes to flicker up and meet with the other's figure. " Oh -- ah -- Gaius is out and won't return until tomorrow. " He says but sets the boot to the side. " Perhaps I could help though? " The young warlock offers.

Arthur couldn’t help but to keep watching Merlin cleaning over the boot. A small grin formed on his face after awhile before deciding to start speaking up. “I think you’ve cleaned that same spot three times now.”
Merlin's blue orbs flickered up and landed on the other , a tiny smirk coming across his lips. " --- And you've been standing there long enough to know? " He questioned but scooted aside enough so the other could sit next to him if he pleased.
The sediment isn’t entirely foreign. Hadn’t he mentioned a similar thought on more than one occasion when something far from the normal had been done out of love or to protect the people? Many a prisoner and now dead man spoke to his father before being engulfed in flames or decapitated. You have let your fear of magic turn to hate. As a child, he initially struggled with empathizing with Uther’s decrees against all sorcery in his kingdom. Fables from youth, read to him by Gaius, always depicted a neutrality to the subject. At the time, he didn’t understand, so he asked. Those stories were never read to him again — most of them burned.
He relented without thinking and, upon realizing it, without remorse, “That may be so.”
His question earned only an even stare, waiting and patient. Without a spoken command, his belongings sorted themselves out until the floor was clean. Any hints of doubt disappeared then, leaving the only conclusion he could draw from the events. Merlin was a sorcerer, and his power sent a spark of unexpected fear through the blonde’s nerves. So much power in such a compact, thin frame. Those hands could level the castle, the whole town, without any real effort. He half wondered how the boy could appear so humble under that knowledge. Something bubbled in his chest, a feeling he could not place until it burst forth from his slightly parted lips. A laugh — an honest-to-goodness laugh — because there is something he finds utterly hysterical about being afraid of Merlin.
Then the fear is g o n e.
The apology followed far too quickly for him to comprehend, so he rested dumbly against his chair while listening to the babble. How like Merlin to chatter on even at a time like this. As much as he wanted to insist the information should have been shared sooner, he understood why it hadn’t. Arthur Pendragon, son of Uther Pendragon, had never been expressly a friend to those of magic either. There were things he regretted doing. Especially now. Unsure how to respond, he does so the only way he knew how, “Don’t be such a girl, Merlin.” A smirk before he lowered his gaze awkwardly. “You did what you thought was—safest. Probably was, really. I’m not sure how I would have reacted early on.” No, he knew. Straight to the prison because he wouldn’t have known about his servant’s wisdom or loyalty then. He wouldn’t have known.
Blue eyes snapped back to high cheekbones and bright eyes at the ending remark, fighting to hold back warmth.
One day you will be a great king. Believe in yourself.
”And will you be here on the day I do become king? After all, a decent manservant is hard to come by.”
Merlin didn't hate Uther -- but he didn't like him either. He disliked him. He disliked him for banning something he simply didn't understand well enough to judge on --- and he disliked him for jumping to conclusions on sorcery. Jumping to the conclusion that all magic was bad and so was anyone who used it.
But most of all He disliked Uther for being so oblivious to dark magic being used behind closed doors In his own castle.
Maybe though -- Just maybe -- that was a blessing though.
If Uther knew about the magic being used behind his back in his own place of living -- It'd just drive his hatred farther. . . .
If that were possible.
And despite this fact --- Despite all the lies and brainwashing put into the young Prince --- Merlin still had H O P E and still B E L I E V E D in Arthur. He believed that the man would bring peace -- that he would see the truth -- and fulfill his destiny. But if Merlin didn't believe in him -- he probably wouldn't be at his side still now would he? If anything if he saw it as a lost cause -- he'd be far from Camelot at the moment.
The laugh caught Merlin off guard -- but he said nothing and merely raised his eyebrows. He didn't see what was so funny -- but then again he didn't expect to. The response he got from Arthur however --- It made him smile even more if that were possible. Things weren't going to change -- or atleast that's how it seemed and Merlin?
He was more than happy about that.
" I couldn't have let myself get executed -- and I'd still rather not. I do have a Prince to keep alive. " The warlock mused before he licked his lips and began to fiddle with his thumbs -- almost making a face of thought.
" Well ---- There are a few perks to being your servant so... I suppose I could stick around after you become King. " A pause. " That is -- If you want me to. "

A minuscule minute flash of disturbance crossed his features — if asked, he would deny it being anything close to panic — before a deadpan set in at the punchline. Just a hint of a smile lurked at the corner of his mouth despite the barely held together scowl. “If you would, it would be much appreciated. I’m getting tried of cobblestone decorum.”
Merlin let out a small laugh as he got to his feet after a small push. " I suppose you can understand how I feel every day of my life then. It does get quite ... Boring having to see the same castle everyday. " He said before offering a hand. " You can call me Merlin --- It's probably obvious that I'm the Prince's servant with me cleaning his boots and all. " He mused.

”There is. Explain to me why every time I try to find my way out of this castle I end up right back where I started.” An incoherent grumble followed as he crossed his arms, staring down at the serving boy with mild irritation.
Without looking up , the servant merely shrugged his shoulders. " That would be because there is no way out. " He said before waiting a moment and looking up from the boot to give him a grin. " Well -- There is actually. I could show you the way if you'd like. "

So I haven't been too active on here but that's because I've been on my Steve Rogers blog ( which you can follow at http://xlibertasx.tumblr.com/ ) and I have quite a few replies over there to get to. 12 last time I checked but it's probably grown since I last checked Not to mention I just got over spraining my ankle and then ending up in the hospital after I got a cold and my Asthma started acting up. Anyway -- I plan on being more active on here soon! I plan on taking this upcoming weekend to work on it alittle more but I'm working on getting to replies. Thanks for the patience!

" --- Is there something I can help you with? " Merlin asked without taking his blue orbs off the boot he was currently cleaning for Arthur.
A moment of the past surfaced, recounting a scene in which Merlin burst forth into the council chambers swearing he was the spell-caster, not Guinevere. Dismissive and unbelieving, he argued the case of romantic feelings between the two servants to save Merlin’s backside from the order of execution he could all but see on Uther’s lips. An indirect, unknowing lie. Even then, he guarded the secret he had yet to learn from his father’s hatred against all things magic. He protected his attendant on instinct because — he was a good friend. The only brave enough to insult the Prince of Camelot to his face and spout random wisdom when Arthur found himself weary and restless. And, as he learned only seconds ago, the only one willing to save his life without a hidden agenda.
”So you were the one controlling that light,” the murmur was soft and fond, though quickly disappeared under the usual masking bon mot, “You’ve quite the list already. If only your outward achievements matched.” A compliment, in a sense, as his greatest endeavors had gone unnoticed or rewarded. Without credit, he continued in his service despite the constant insults tossed his way. How loyal could one man be? How loyal could one sorcerer be? A baffling question and he knew not the answer. “No? Not even for the bragging rights gained by defeating a prince? Though, to be honest, it would be cheating, wouldn’t it? Using magical powers I didn’t know about at the time.”
”I’d say I know plenty about love spells.” He fell under enough to know the experience left a empty sort of disorientation until eventual humiliation followed the corny happenings of two so preoccupied with one another. There were one too many crudely written poems stuffed in the back of his drawers to forget. Thoroughly unsatisfied with the answer, though understanding even Merlin had yet to learn of his limitations, he considered the room before pointing toward where a pile of clothes rested against the floor, leftover from the commotion of his sudden return. “Show me.”
Show me your magic.
Merlin couldn't help but snort as Arthur said this. Quite the list? It was a list Merlin had stopped adding to quite long ago. Arthur would never know how hard it was to keep him alive -- He wouldn't have the slightest clue on how many times he could have died had Merlin not been there.
And Merlin never got one thank you -- but somehow the warlock was fine with that. As long as one day people with magic didn't have to fear being who they were -- and Camelot got the King they deserved -- he was fine with that.
Because really --- as long as his and Arthur's destiny came out the way it was suppose to -- he was h a p p y.
" I made you trip over your feet enough to be satisfied. You may have been a prat -- but I don't seek out harming people you know. " Which doesn't mean he hasn't hurt someone or even caused someones death. But he did it for Arthur -- He did it for ;;
A l b i o n.
" I wouldn't exactly want to brag about beating you either -- your father would have accused me of sorcery for that alone. " Merlin said before he realized that wouldn't be the best thing to say infront of Arthur -- especially at this time. " It's just -- uhm -- I don't want to be the reason your father or you take a farther dislike to people who use magic. I don't want to drive the hatred because -- Arthur , I can promise you that not all magic is bad. " The boy said.
He was alittle surprised when Arthur told him to use his magic -- s h o w him his magic -- and he had to stare at him for a second before looking back at the mess and cleared his throat. " Are you ... Okay. " Merlin said before slowly getting to his feet -- almost with caution -- moving infront of the mess , but still close enough to Arthur. Staring down the mess for a moment - he let out a breath and his eyes lit up gold as the mess began to clean itself without a word leaving the boy's lips -- just a hand rose to almost command it. Clothes began to fold themselves and armor moved back to the wooden table. In a few mere minutes everything was clean and the boy let his hand fall back to his side. The gold slowly moved back to the original blue and he let them flicker to Arthur as he did.
It was silent for a moment before Merlin took a step closer to the Prince -- then another --- until he was close enough for his liking. His eyes never left the man as he spoke though.
" I'm sorry I never told you before ... I do trust you -- and I should have trusted you enough to come to you about this. I was just ... Scared. But I hope this won't change anything because -- even if you are the biggest cabbage head in all of Camelot -- I do enjoy being your servant ... At times. " The attempt at teasing was followed by a small smile. " I also enjoy seeing you on your way to becoming King -- if were being honest. "

Relief washing over her petite figure was noticeable by the lag of her shoulders and quiet sigh. digits wound themselves again in a ball, drawing close to her lips as they whispered words in the old tongue that was laced with magic. The flame disappeared. And no longer did she stutter over her words nor a crack in her voice occurred. She spoke with d e t e r m i n a t i o n and m e a n i n g.
It was the voice of a sorceress.
Another sigh emitted from the female as her hands dropped, slender fingers finding way to her dress, becoming a fidgety mess. It was obvious she was nervous. He was the first in Camelot to know—- the first to know ever—- as far as she knew.
“I do. and I don’t know, amnesiac, remember—-“
She certainly didn’t.
”One day, I awoke in the forest. Alone, no recall of the past. It was terrifying, to be honest. I remember walking for a while and then my dress snagged on a branch. I started to fall. ——except, I didn’t. I had closed my eyes sometime during that, and when I opened then, I was near hovering midair. I had been saved by m a g i c.
I started to experiment a bit after that—- after realizing what it was. Slowly, spells came to me, that or it was instinctive—- elemental. It’s strange—- really. A girl with no memory—- no past—- a witch.”
Merlin could tell the woman was terribly nervous -- and he wanted to do nothing but reassure her that there was nothing to be nervous about. Hell -- Merlin would never tell anyone but even if he decided to , who would listen to him other than maybe Arthur? He was a mere servant.
" Right --- Sorry , that completely slipped my mind. " Merlin apologized quickly but listened to her story , nodding every now and then to reassure her he was listening.
" I've had magic my whole life --- since the day I was born. My mother and my friend Will were the only ones to know before I came to Camelot. My mother knew Gaius would help me learn to control my magic -- and he has. It's not easy being who I am in Camelot -- but one day ... One day we can both live in peace and be who we truly are. Arthur may be a prat -- but I believe he'll do the right thing when he is King. " The young warlock said before clearing his throat.
" -- Does anyone else know about your magic? " He asked curiously.

Merlin sighed as he looked at the smoke rolling off of the wood — his arms resting on his knees as he sat there in silence. It was rare he got down time anymore since coming to Camelot. Gaius and Arthur kept him busy for the most part — but right now he was lucky enough to just be able to relax. He really should have thought about whether or not anyone was around though before he held out a hand and began to speak. “ Hors, beride þá heofonum. " As his eyes lit up — a perfect golden tint -- the smoke began to move into the shape of a horse before the horse began to run in place mere seconds in. The color of his eyes went down and the boy looked up at it — a smile forming on his lips. He really shouldn’t be using magic — but once again he wasn’t thinking clearly.

Ebony smiled as she took in the room. It was strangely comforting and inviting. Kind even. “Thank you again for being so kind.” She smiled.
Merlin gave her a smile once more and nodded. " I'm just glad I can help. " He said but as they got in , he shut the door behind him. " I don't think Arthur will come barging in anytime soon -- so we should be good. Would you like a drink perhaps? " The boy asked , wanting to make sure the woman was comfortable.

Alright so I'm out of the hospital and ready to get to replies! Should get to everyone by the end of the night!
