back when i id'd simply as a lesbian people would be surprised and not believe me (both queer and cishet ppl). but now if people hear im aro ace, if they are not the type who just thinks it doesnt exist or is a mental illness, they think it perfectly suits me and it makes sense. now maybe the reason why people didnt think i was lesbian was cos i was more aroace and so didnt give lesbian vibes or whatever, but i also cant help but think theres a racial aspect to this because lesbians are overly sexualized, and sometimes asian women like me are infantilized so it seems like it makes no sense when i say im lesbian, and because east asians are often thought of as like prudes or repressed due to traditional culture and stuff, people are more willing to accept im aroace

being black and neurodivergent is isolating sometimes because of how ableism is heavily rooted in the black community but also how white neurodivergents treat you like shit because of how normalized antiblackness is.

I didn't even get the luxury of being diagnosed properly cuz I was hit with the ODD diagnosis. I feel like black autistic, ADHD, and OCD individuals are just erased most of the time. nobody can see us as struggling or having specific quirks cuz of antiblackness.

it's weird being Black and American.

I obviously think almost everything this country is currently doing/has done throughout history politcally is reprehensible and I in no way venerate the leaders of this country or what it stands on. But at the same time- the United States is the only country I'm attached to. My family has lived here for generations. Essentially all my relatives are just American. I've been asked, "no where are you really from?", or, "Where are your parents from?" and it's like. The same city I grew up in, in the United States. And I know that if I went far back enough I could trace ancestors outside of this country, but not in the way some Americans claim ancestry from abroad. It's lost, stolen, from most of us.

And like, Black Americans have suffered in this country. God, do I fucking know that. This place is crawling with racists to this day. But sometimes I can't help feeling some amount of patriotism over things, even if I feel a little guilty over it. But this is the only country I have. Black culture has contributed significantly to essentially every art form nationwide (I could make an argument that Black culture is the most significant and copied thing in music worldwide), and that's not un-American. It's my country too! I dunno

The language surrounding trans women in porn has always been tied to the "taboo" of our sexuality. Tranny, shemale, futanari, trap, sissy, cd, and femboy all exist as labels which other people have put on us as sly (not sly) ways of degendering us, third sexing us, in order to keep the taboo alive. This is very similar to the way in which racialized women are also exoticized in porn (as with relative age, religion, appearance, etc. It's a pattern).

When trans women, especially when racialized, enter into (online) sex work, we are forced to use the language which will make us seen, and makes us more popular. Trans women's agency is removed from the construction of our own descriptive vocabulary as a prerequisite to succeeding in the industry.

Using these required labels to make a living is not some fluid identity which allows trans women mobility. It is an effect of the marginalization of trans women, and a culture which consumes us, but does not believe we are deserving of more than being consumed.

Somehow he's a registered voter now. Called the county clerk. Me: My cat got summoned for jury duty. Clerk: Is the name correct on the summons? Me: Yes, but he's a cat. Clerk: Is Felix Martinez a legal resident of this county? Me: He's a legal cat. Clerk: Sir, if the name matches our records, he needs to appear or file an exemption. Me: He can't file anything. He has paws. Clerk: You can file on his behalf. Me: Under what exemption? There's no box for "is a cat." Clerk: (pause) Check "unable to serve due to medical reasons." Me: What's the medical reason? Clerk: He's a cat. Me: That's not a medical condition. Clerk: It is if it prevents him from serving. Sent in the form. Got rejected two weeks later. "Insufficient documentation. Please provide medical professional's statement." Took the letter to my vet. Me: I need you to write that my cat can't do jury duty. Vet: Why is your cat summoned for jury duty? Me: Excellent question. No good answer. Vet: This is the weirdest request I've gotten. Me: Can you just write that he's medically unfit to serve? Vet: On what grounds? Me: He's a cat. Vet: (started typing) "Patient is unable to serve due to species-related limitations including inability to speak, read, or comprehend legal proceedings." Me: Perfect. Sent it in. Got another rejection. "Summons is mandatory. Failure to appear will result in contempt of court." My roommate thought this was hilarious. Roommate: Felix is going to jail. Me: This is serious. Roommate: Bring him to court. See what happens. Decided that was actually the only option left. Day of jury duty, put Felix in his carrier. Brought the entire paper trail of rejection letters. Checked in at the courthouse. Clerk: Name? Me: Felix Martinez. Clerk: (looked at the cat carrier) Is that Felix? Me: Yes. Clerk: (long stare) He's a cat. Me: I've been saying that for six weeks. Clerk: Why didn't you file an exemption? Me: I filed three. All rejected. Showed her the letters. She read through them, expression shifting from confusion to disbelief. Clerk: Someone rejected the veterinary documentation? Me: Twice. Clerk: (called her supervisor over) You need to see this. Supervisor read everything. Looked at Felix. Looked at me. Supervisor: How did a cat get registered to vote? Me: You tell me. Supervisor: This is a data error. Me: Took you six weeks to figure that out. They dismissed Felix immediately.
