Ooo yes I’d love to! Long explanation below the cut:

So I draw Sanji with Sora’s eye colour (not directly colour dropped so it’s a little off… but it’s the thought that counts) and that is very important to me, personally?

I associate Sanji heavily with the colour blue. Yes, his blond hair is iconic and I know people like to relate it to Sora (which I also love to see!) but Judge’s hair is also blond so I don’t see it as something that’s personal to him. His blue eyes however…

Also, and I know this is kind cheesy, but blue is the colour of the ocean. Sanji spent his childhood on the ocean, and I do definitely subscribe to the headcanon that he liked to swim around the Baratie growing up and just… enjoys swimming in general. Also— to be even cheesier— his dream is to find the All Blue. Like it’s literally right there.

Overall, on top of the connection to his mother, his childhood, and the rather on-the-nose nod to his dream, blue is his colour and his eyes reflect that (I’m definitely pushing it if I say the eyes are the window to the soul, but, well,). So the culmination of all this thinking, for me, was:

His hair turning black is fun, but lord, what if he lost his blue eyes?

So the concept was born, and I just decided to make it that— when he “mutates”— his eyes change colour. He loses a very important piece of him. I chose red because it’s the secondary colour on his raid suit and the colour of blood. It’s subject to change, though.

I don’t know technically how this would happen? Same with the hair, I guess, just gene activation or something. But it’s okay it doesn’t have to make sense.

Also… I do think Judge would be petty enough to program the boys to not have Sora’s eye colour.

So yeah that’s basically it! Sorry for rambling for so long, apparently I think about this a lot lol
